Lotto StudParticipantMany on the site may or may not know it but I am a die hard Nets fan. We have been in the slumps for years and years to come now since our title run with Jason Kidd & company. I for one would love to see Stern put us over the hump this year by bringing my team out the slumps, because we are going to be set back for many more years if we lose out on D-Will this Summer.
Just think we were God awful in the 2009-2010 season with a not so hot start off to 0-18 to finish off the season 12-70. Again when we think we are going places and sky would be the limit once we acquired D-Will last year we hear rumors he will leave us if we don’t get any help. I think I speak for all Nets fans when I say we don’t need to keep setting our team back by making ridiculous trades trying to get our feet out of hot water. Okay it’s cool we all entertained the thought of Dwight coming in to help out, but just think we would have had to sacrifice our whole team or majority of our key pieces to acquire him such as a Brook Lopez who I think is a key ingredient for our team.
I can imagine how key Davis would be with the wings we do have that are versatile enough to keep running the break to free him up with D-Will feeding him on the receiving end of lobs. With Lopez still on the roster he wouldn’t warrant any double teams which would free up other guys including AD.
If by any chance we can obtain this number one pick through the grace of the basketball Gods and the Devils idol mind (David Stern) we should be straight in getting the #1 Overall with our Top 3 protected selection that Portland holds right now.
I know I’m not the only Nets fan on the forum, so I would like to hear from more of you on obtaining Anthony Davis in the Lottery sweepstakes.

TyroberParticipantYou know what would be awesome? Landing the number #1 pick and then packaging it to Orlando to get Howard. I would assume Lopez or Wallace would have to be included as well for salaries and talent purposes, but wouldn’t that be something. They would be an instant contender

Lotto StudParticipantI do not want Dwight. I’d rather have the youth.

Lotto StudParticipantJust think about the new rookie pay scale. It would be a STEAL to get AD versus having Dwight.

RUDEBOY_ParticipantDavis would be the perfect compliment to Lopez..They said they want Wallace and Humphies back..And rookie Damian James should a little improvement toward the end of the season..Their frontcourt are young and promising..

paradigmnParticipantI’m a Nets fan also bro….ever since I knew they were moving to Brooklyn for the 2012-13 season….I seriously contemplated if the FIX would be in for them to get the #1 pick…I mean….new arena in New York…Jay-Z is an owner….the writing is almost on the wall.
Remember…the biggest FIX in NBA drat history…was with a New York team also…in 1985

thricethefunParticipantWell we know Dwight is the best Center in the league but what AD will become is uncertain. You are saying you would rather have a rookie than a sure thing in Dwight? Doesn’t make sense to me. In my opinion Davis will be a great defensive player but only a so-so offensive player in the league.

TyroberParticipantWill Deron wait around on Davis to develop though? He has already wasted a couple years with the Nets. Davis will be a great player in the future, but he won’t make you an instant contender like Dwight would in 2013.

Lotto StudParticipantI stand firm!

TMoney617Participanti would say that there is a 7.5% chance lol. But I would really love for the Nets to get Davis. If Lopez comes back to 100% after his injuries and we have Davis alongside him, there’s no need for Dwight. And Davis is a much cheaper option leaving the Nets room to sign more players for depth.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantdidn’t Barkley say something if the Nets get the 1st pick its rigged?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 12:13pm #671673
Lotto StudParticipantWhen did Barkley make that statement.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 12:21pm #671676

OldSkoolBasketballParticipant"I’ve got to tell you something, I’m really concerned about the number one pick in the draft this year. Well, number one, I think Michael would take Anthony Davis or I’d kill him (laughs). I can’t say this, but I’m going to be watching the draft lottery very closely because I don’t want no shenanigans”
He went on to discuss what he meant by shenanigans.
“I’m going to be very leery if Anthony Davis ends up in Brooklyn. You know, I’m going to be very leery because I know the NBA has a lot riding on that new arena, especially if Deron Williams leaves New Jersey. They didn’t get Dwight Howard. I’m going to be very leery if New Jersey gets that number one pick.”

NYK2010ParticipantDeron Will, Wallace, Lopez, Davis would be nice of that happening are slim.
Maybe DWill resigns if the Nets land a top 3 pick.
They do need to resign Gerald Wallace.

Lotto StudParticipantOur management has just been throwing picks away left and right. I will be vexed if we package Anthony Davis.

Lotto StudParticipantI won’t disputing what you displayed, I asked a question because you asked. All I said was when did he say it.

OldSkoolBasketballParticipantESPN 1000 in Chicago with Waddle and Silvy

The Scare Crow RisesParticipantIf they do I will boycott this draft, also I don’t want Golden State to win The Lottery at all, they just don’t deserve to be rewarded for TANKING
The Nets chances are slim and they should not win but I’m with Barkley. I have my eyes on the Draft Lottery
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 3:26pm #671717
Lotto StudParticipantStop hating! Do you think we tanked 12-70 with an 0-18 start. We are in a bind. It’s our year for much needed help from Stern. We have a sob story this year.

Seamo15ParticipantAs a New Jersey/Brooklyn Fan, I’d love to see us get Davis, though I would settle for a lottery pick seeing as if we’ve all but thrown it away in the Wallace trade. And if the conspiracey theory about rigging is true, I think Brooklyn would be the obvious choice to give the top pick too. It’d be a marketing dream for the NBA, and all honesty, how much if it all would the NBA benifit financially from giving the pick to Charlotte. They’d be better off bumping north Carolina tar heels into the league, better fan base
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 3:41pm #671722

cuseflynn10ParticipantI’m not so sure the lottery is rigged. There are definitely a lot of suspiscious happenings like Chicago native D-Rose going to the Bulls when they had like a 1% chance of landing the top pick. But even still, many teams would have taken Beasley first overall back then, so who’s to say it really was rigged.
As for this season, you could say it’s rigged for the majority of the teams. If the Bobcats win it’s cause they had one of the worst teams of all time. If Sacramento wins it’s because they are trying to keep the fan base alive in Sactown. If the Nets win, it’s because their opening up a new season in Brooklyn. If the Hornets win, it’s because David Stern made a deal with Tom Benson to intice him to buy the Honerts. You could probably come up with an excuse for every team.

Lotto StudParticipantAll I can say is New Orleans better not touch the top 3
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 3:57pm #671728
Lotto StudParticipantI just for once want to see Stern linked to a New Age rigging scandal interview.
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 4:45pm #671736
benny15Participantto all those opposed to dealing the pick, if you had the call what would you do with this situation.
the nets win the lotto and take Davis as expected.
deron doesnt want to wait in the same sense t-mac did not want to wait for Dwight Howard to develop.
Dwight is offered along with Hedo and Big Baby for Davis, Lopez and Brooks plus salary fillers.
Deron Williams say get Dwight Howard and I’ll resign, dont and ill go to Dallas or Indiana.
What do you do?
Try to form Dwight and Deron combo or rebuild with Anthony Davis as your featured man. suddenly all the preasure to be the savior is in his shoulders. i get it why people might rather have Davis over Dwight. but is he worth both Dwight and Deron?
0 - Posted on: Sat, 05/19/2012 - 5:27pm #671747
Lotto StudParticipantIt’s just way to risky if we win the lotto. We gave up on my man Favors too soon but it was a move that had to be made.
