Witht his trade, he should get a chance to play and if he is good, there is no better place to play than NY. Question is, how good will he be? Is he a starting caliber PG or is he just a bench player?

 When the Mavs drafted him Donnie Nelson ( The GM of the Mavs) said Larkin reminded him of Barea with his quickness and ability to get in the lane. 

I also see a little bit of Patty Mills in him. 

Larkins a great offensive weapon but will always be held back on the defensive end due to size, probably will end being a small guard off the to create offense much like Barea and Mills

 i’d have to disagree though with the opening post. i dont think New York is an ideal place for him to play right now. shane larkin is a good leader and the kind of traditional point guard youd be happy to have on your team. what he isnt though is a natural fit in phill jackson’s triangle. 

shane larkin’s biggest strength is his ability to run and facilitate the pick and roll. that will not be utilized much in an anticipated move to the triangle offense in the big apple. sure he’s a solid shooter so he could play in the triangle system, but it wouldnt be his natural game and his abilities would not be maximized. he’s better off being dealt to a team like the clippers or jazz where could earn some back up pg minutes and run the offense most familiar to him.
