    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1217548-hornets-reportedly-reject-offer-from-cavaliers-for-no-1-pick-in-2012-nba-draft

If this is true (seems to be reported by Chad Ford), I think that the Cavs were smart to make that offer and the Hornets smart to reject it as Davis is possibly a unique prospect, at least in this draft class. He belongs to that group of players who I think you must have to be a legit contender which I don’t feel there are in this draft class other than him.

    What’d you guys think?

Silly Dan Gilbert… David Stern already gave him his turn at the top pick last season.

Reminds me of what the NO Saints did in order to get Ricky Williams awhile ago.

I would of countered the Cavs by asking for Varejao and Thompson as well to at least see what they come back with.  That would be a lot of pieces you would get for Davis , question is the quality better than quantity?

Well it depends, if you want to make regularly the playoffs, that offer is ok. But if you want to have a shot at winning a title, chose quality over quantity because there ain’t that many prospects with Davis’ combination of present level and potential.

After LeBron, Cavs know the value of a true star better than anyone. They also know that one (Kyrie) isn’t enough.

What if NOH had asked for Irving and 4th pick for Davis and 10th for the deal would Cleveland have bitten I wonder.

^I doubt it. Irving is loved in Cleveland and how often does a rookie play as well as Irving did. He looks like a future star at the point guard position that is already starting to make the Cavs watchable again. He also has the potential to represent the league in a few years, along with Durant and a select few other young stars, because of his charisma and likeability, which Davis does not possess. I’m not saying Davis isn’t likeable, but his public speaking needs a lot of work and Irving is jus a tremendously talented individual on and off the court.

Idk why Cleveland would do this. They are sitting pretty at 4. They get one of the 4 best guys. They will either get Davis, MKG, Drummond, or Barnes. It’s a win either way for them. But hey if you love an player I can’t knock that. In just not sold on Davis.

I agree with Joe Check that Cleveland are in a good position, they have their centrepiece in with Irving, a running mate in Thompson and will at worse have the choice of who to draft from two of Barnes, T-Rob, Drummond and MKG at 4.

Plus they have a possible deal to get 6th and 11th from Portland for 4th and 24th and own two very nice early 2nd rounders. Chris Grant will have loads of draft options and no doubt tested the waters with NOH to try and nab Davis by offering all his picks this year.

I had suggested NOH asking for Irving in return for Davis as Cleveland would have rejected this like NOH rejected any offer for Davis.

Tristan, #4 and #24 is wildly intriguing. I’d still keep the Davis pick probably, but wow is it close. No way Cavs move Kyrie.
