    How did Tyus Jones play varsity in 8th grade? I know he was good and all, but don’t you actually have to be in high school to be on a high school team?

    If you play at a private(some)/prep school that has a middle school part of it you can play varsity as early as 6th grade. I heard that Tyreke Evans was the starting PG on his high school varsity for 6 years

    If you play at a private(some)/prep school that has a middle school part of it you can play varsity as early as 6th grade. I heard that Tyreke Evans was the starting PG on his high school varsity for 6 years

    i think the rule is if you are at a middle school that goes to the same high school you can play varsity as young as 6th.  Ive had teammates who started as an 8th grader.  Also, Tyus Jones is a reall reall good point guard.  I have played against him a few times.  The refs gave him a foul almost every time he drove to the hoop though.  He has been given the superstar treatment in Minnesota.

    Tweety Carter who used to play at Baylor a couple years back played varsity ball in 7th grade. O.J. Mayo did too.

    These seem more like future predictions rather than predictions for this year. Yes, these players all are near the top of their class, but I have a feeling that as far as All-American accolades may be concerned, these guys may be taking a back seat to older, more experienced players. Paradigmn, I really like your enthusiasm, but I think that you might be getting a tad ahead of yourself with some of these rankings and lists. The King of doing that is Clark Francis, check his lists of glory out:

    Some of them you (and I) are not able to see unless we are members, but I was looking through them pretty intently. Well, lets just say, I think what Francis does is pretty gross for the most part, and he almost makes things into a soap opera with his insanely long lists of almost every name he could find. I am not saying you are like him, but maybe trying to give you a warning as to not necessarily hype the young guys before they have developed a little more fully. I like most of the players on your list, seems like they are some favorites for eventually being NBA prospects, but as 2011-12 All-Americans, I am not so sure. 

    A few names you might want to consider, as far as a production standpoint in HS play is concerned:

    PG Aquille Carr (Max Preps Sophomore of the Year this past season)

    PF/C Tony Parker (Max Preps Junior of the Year this past season)

    SF/PF Perry Ellis (Super Underrated, he will be an all most sure All-American)

    SG Marcus Smart (Total baller, I am sure he will be not only a McDonald’s All-American, but on most 2011-12 All-American Teams)

    PG/SG D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera (1st Team Junior All-American by Max Preps)

    PF Ricardo Gathers (Undersized PF, just committed to St. John’s. He lead the EYBL in rebounding and should put up a monster senior year)

    PG Yogi Ferrell

    PF Amile Jefferson

    PG Kasey Hill (Should more than likely have a better season than Dakari Johnson on the same HS team, Monteverde Academy. It is where Johnson is transferring, yes, from St. Patricks)

    SF Xavier Johnson (Mater Dei is a big time school, he should be their leader once again)

    SG/SF Katin Reinhardt (Another Mater Dei guy, should be in the running for All-American Honors)

    I like Kasey Hill ALOT. He’s a good drive and kick passer, and he has the frame to be a nice physical presence too. He needs to get better with his shot and just continue to polish and grow up physically, but he’s a promising slashing PG. He’s class of 2013 I think, but he’s worth keeping an eye on.

    I think Kasey Hill might end up being the top rated PG in 2013, though he has some competition in Andrew Harrison and Anthony Barber, as Paradigmn listed. I listed a few 2012 and 2013 guys just as likely being the best players as of 2011-12, hence more than likely making All-American teams. It is rare for underclassmen to be listed as All-American’s, at least by national media. I do not think it is due to age discrimination, if you are good enough, you will get on. LeBron James and Greg Oden are proof of that.

    Guys like Jabari Parker and Julius Randle are obviously far ahead of the curve when it comes to physical maturation and skill set, but many of the other underclassmen need some work. When the All-American teams come out next year, odds are that the older and more physically mature prospects will have probably done more to earn All-American spots.

    I guess what you are trying to do is predict the best future prospects, but, it is going to take a while. I know some of the guys on your list are rated really highly at this point, but I bet that you will have new people ahead of them in their same class next year.      I didnt say this was an  ALL-AMERICAN team….just  my personal STARTING 5 if I could put a team together…thats it….no more no less…I all ready did a pre season all american list b4…http://prospect-central.blogspot.com/2011/07/pre-season-high-school-basketball-all_15.html….I never said tyus jones was the best PG in high school…did I???….just my personal favotite to run the DEF SQUAD…lol… plus with all-american lists…they take more into consideration than just basketball…i.e…(school work, how u r as a person, etc etc),,,not just the best ballers get that award…so its is very difficult to predict all-americans at times, cuz u dont always know what type of person or student they are..sooo…in essence it really isnt a BOLD prediction because I am not predicting anything….this is  just MY PERSONAL starting 5 for the upcoming season..thats all it is….this team was  not built to win a any awards on my part….it was just built to win basketball games….Jones….Muhammad…Parker…Randle….McGary….I dunno…call me crazy…..seems like a good team to me.

    im happy that mikeyvthedon mentioned Aquille Carr in his post. im not sure what else this kid has to do to get his props. there is a plethora of talent on the high school level right now and that kid needs to mentioned somewhere near the top.
