The 2011-12 high school basketball season will be officially under way for the entire country in a couple days, but some teams have already started to play.
These 5 freshmen are some nice player’s who are well known in the class of 2015 and are off to a solid start so far in the 2011-12 season.
If any of you may recall, in August I wrote about 10 freshmen to keep an eye on from the class of 2015. I did not mention any of those player’s in this article because I had already wrote about them, so here are three of those player’s statistics for the season now. (most of the player’s have not started the season yet.)
Malik Newman: 23.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 2.0 apg, 1.7 spg (In 6 games this season has scored over 30 points twice already…kid seems worth the hype.)
Tyler Dorsey: 26.5 ppg, 10 rpg, 8 apg, 1 spg ( has only played 2 games so far…but…last night in his second high school game…dude messed around and got a triple double!!!)
Mickey Mitchell: Not exactly sure his stats…but….I know last weekend at the Thanksgiving Hoopfest his high school team Prestonwood Christian (same team as Julius Randle) played Rodney Purvis’s squad Upper Room Christian and he had around 13 points 7 assists 4 rebounds 2 blocks and really played some nice defense on Purvis helping his team to a 81-58 blowout victory. Here is a quick highlight video of Mickey from that tournament…the kid really has some nice vision!!!
If you recall I also wrote about some players in the 8th 7th and 6th grade as well. Two of these ballers have actually played some high school ball this year. Eigth grader V.J King…and…Sixth Damon Harge Jr….ya…I said SIXTH GRADER!!! V.J. King plays for Untied Faith who is actually coached by none other than Muggsy Bouges!!! King dropped 14 points, grabbed 5 boards, dished out 3 dimes and had a steal and a block in the 102-76 romping of Walnut Grove Christian last week. At the Bull City Classic last week, Damon Harge Jr. had a solid 10 points aginst Regional Elite Development Academy (Canada). Kid is in 6th grade!!! Not all states allow middle scholers to play high school ball…but apparently North Carolina does because thats where both King & Harge live.
Which brings me to the 5 player’s I wrote about….some nice baller’s….worth keeping an eye on for the future. For all you people out there that like interesting basketball nuggets of information, you’ll get just what you are looking for with the last player featured.
