The Scare Crow RisesParticipantWhat are your thoughts on Coach Karl coming back to coach this underwhelming group of players
How does he plan to use DMC?
Will Rudy Gay be held accountable for his poor shot selection?
Does Staukas and McLemore become bigger contributors or will they be benched for some veteran Guard?
Do the Kings try to trade for a PG or SG from Denver? (Lawson or Affalo seem like good fits with the Kings)
Will the Kings start to play hard for a Hall of Fame level coach?
Is this a make or break move for DmC and Gay?0 - Posted on: Wed, 02/11/2015 - 4:50am #965990

agentoaktreeParticipantYour questions are very intriguing, here’s my take
- First of all, it should be noted how maturely Cousins has handled this situation, as it would have been easy to lash out at the ownership, any rumblings about him or his crew being sour at the move seem to be out the window. http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2015/2/10/8016249/demarcus-cousins-finally-breaks-his-silence-regarding-the-george-karl I think Boogie will be able to cut down his turnovers because the rest of the players will be more in tune with the offense, I think he will be able to use his perimeter skill more efficiently in the up and down game. He might get a slight minutes reduction because Karl will be competent enough to realize that even though the Kings are way better with him out there, some of his turnovers are due to fatigue.
- I think Rudy Gay’s supposed poor shot selection are just his rep following him from Memphis and Toronto, I think that he’s gonna be able to get his shots and he’ll continue his elevated level of play that he’s brought to Sactown
- I hope Mclemore gets to play because his improvement over the past year has been a pleasure to see, I think Stauskas will not see any type of uptick in minutes but will get better looks than he got in the past because of Karl’s tendency to get decent looks off quick hitters and end of the shot clock type of plays
- I don’t see a move with Denver in play, Collison’s 5 million a year is looking like a bargain now, even though an upgrade at SG would be nice for them, they seem to still see Stauskas and Mclemore as the future their, and for good reason.
- Karl is a players coach and seems to always keep it real, I always recall Karl’s players playing hard for him and I see no reason why this group wouldn’t as I think he’ll resonate with them similar to the way Malone did.
- Boogie and Rudy are going to get the majority of the attention here, so I think that if they don’t succeed with Karl their reputations will take a hit, I hope they do.

Taylor Gang MikeParticipantWant to see Ray Mac get more minutes and Ben can become a star, but if Karl cant turn it around then no one can

SeattleSuperChronicsParticipantI really like George Karl to the Kings. Honestly I think he is exactly what they need from a coaching stand point. He has always been a players coach. I am interested to see how his relationship with cousins will evolve because there is no doubt that cousins could be the most dominant true center in the league and if it doesn’t work out with Karl he is most likely done in sac. I don’t think Rudy Gay is a good fit with the Kings and one could argue Rudy Gay isn’t a good fit anywhere but that is another thread in its self. I believe Darren Collison is a starting PG in the NBA and George Karl will really elevate his game. (The clippers really miss him as a backup)

LovebugParticipantWhat’s wrong with Rudy Gay’s fit? Dude is solidly their second best player and has been a good SF in Sacramento.

CynthiaParticipantI’m happy for Karl, but I was hoping earlier on in the year that the Thunder would use the slow start to finally rid themselves of the Scott Brooks atrocity and pick up Karl.
I’m actually surprised Karl lasted this long without a team, he’s a great coach. Good luck to him & the Kings.

machu46ParticipantI really hope it works out for Karl. One of my favorite coaches. Not exactly a great situation to be heading into though.
Hopefully he can turn them around; I miss the Kings being relevant. That team with Webber, Peja, Bibby, Divac, and Christie was one of my favorites of all-time to watch.

HitsterParticipantGreat to see George Karl back in the NBA, he’ll surely be able to get the best out of DMC and hopefully get the Kings back to some sort of relevance in due course. George has worked with the Kings’ GM Pete D’Alessandro previously at Denver so there will be a good working relationship there and they’ll know how each other works.
Having Karl their also gives them another very experienced opinion come draft night where the Kings may have a specific need in mind depending where they end up drafting.
I don’t see Karl and PDA making any immediate moves, Coach Karl will need to get to know his players, get them to see how he wants them to play and then everyone can evaluate where the needs are.
Having a coach of Karl’s calibure will be a boost to DMC in paticular I feel, he’ll have a guy who has been around the NBA for decades, has coached many star players and knows how to handle them. With Karl’s guidance we could see DMC gaining greater efficiency to his already prolific output.

sitlbitoParticipantGeorge Karl wouldn’t be enough to compensate the loss of Malone. If I’d be a GM he would be the first I’d call. Dude made miracles with this Sacramento group at the beginning of the season. I heard he’s in Minnesota “observing” with Saunders. Maybe Flip plans to step out in a few months/years to put Malone in his place. That would be a terrific move, and maybe a reason why Orlando would not be able to have him
