White ChocolateParticipantHassan Whiteside to the Kings at #5? Sounds crazy right, the Kings are bringing in Whiteside for a second workout. The Kings have reached for a player in the past which was Jason Thompson at #12. Whiteside is my darkhorse to go to Sacramento at #5. They past on Rubio for Evans which was a smart move after the fact. So do any of you think that they would pass on Cousins/Monroe for Whiteside?

Dubs30ParticipantThey wouldn’t draft Whiteside over Cousins, but maybe they’re preparing for a possible trade down? With Detroit?

TRC1991Participanti dont think sacramento can afford to reach right now, they need to take the sure-thing with monroe or the potential with cousins but not the project in whiteside

cheesepillowParticipantmore likely to see what Whiteside is capable if they do trade down. I don’t think its because sactown is considering Whiteside at the 5th slot.
Also, Rubio’s case was different since he was an international spec tied down to a humongous buyout clause.

Tyreke JohnsonParticipantWhiteside is not going top 5, simple as that. Cousins and even Monroe are too good to pass on for a guy like Whiteside who is a project.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantA lot of teams are open to selling picks in exchange for cap space (Miami and Chicago come to mind). I don’t think there is a chance in the world that they would take Whiteside at #5.

ZeroParticipantIf they want Whiteside, they will trade down.

knicksfan7ParticipantIt would be a foolish move if Cousins is still available. I think Cousins fits the Kings perfectly. Cousins isn’t a #1 option, but he can score like one, and a BDP (Ball Dominant Player) like Evans needs a very good front court. To have Cousins and Thompson playing C and PF respectively with Dalembert and Landry coming off the bench is very good. I don’t think Evans is a pure enough PG to be able to make Whiteside a better player offensively.

the I in winParticipantIf they do they are probably making a move at some point. They traded Hawes because he was soft and weak so they bring in Whiteside? Makes no sense to me. I’ve believed that Cousins is the best fit for a while and I hope the Kings take him.

juves4783Participantgreg monroe was also back for a second workout. i think it has more to do with knowing who to draft if minny takes cousins.

richgatesParticipantI’ve also heard the theory that the Kings are pretty high on Monroe and wanted to see him go head to head with someone. I know that his agent didn’t allow him to face anyone when he worked out for the Jazz, and I believe that has been his philosophy. What better way to see how a guy does is having someone with a 7’7″ wingspan contesting your shots.

kanebangerParticipantjust cuz he has a 7’7″ wingspan doesnt mean he can play ball

sacphil_08ParticipantAs a kings fan and a guy that lives in Sacramento I can tell you that whiteside working out twice means nothing except that we are trying to match him up with Greg Monroe to see how Monroe plays. Monroe worked out for us twice so did udoh. Last year we worked out tyrese rice like 3 times because we were matching up guys against tyreke Evans that didn’t mean we were going to “reach” for Tyrese rice. It’s all about matchups to see how potential draftees matchup against different competition, different defensive looks etc. We aren’t moving down. If we moved down we’d be getting a veteran guy and with the team we have now we won’t pass on young guys like cousins or even Monroe ro move down. All this talk of us moving down is speculation by the media and everyone else. People said the same thing last year as well, that we wanted to move down to get some veteran guys. I’ll tell you right now, we can work out Monroe 20 times between now and the draft but if cousins is still available, we will be taking him and not trading him either (tayshaun prince…)

frijole ghostParticipantwas available at #5…someone is going to come up with an offer and minny is going to take it – cousins at #4 to det/gs or some other darkhorse team (phi?)

cycloParticipantDetroit wants #5 and Cousins.
So the Kings may be bringing in Whiteside in preparation for a trade down with Detroit.

kaceyParticipantYeah, I’m with everyone else here. I think by working Hassan out twice is just in case the Kings trade down.

rhofernParticipantbringing him in for a second workout does not mean that they r interested in drafting him. it may mean that they just want a second look because they r not sure but i would guess it is between monroe and cousins and i say cousins
