Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem announced on its Web site Saturday the signing of Oregon center Michael Dunigan, along with former USC star Sam Clancy.

Dunigan becomes the fifth Oregon player to leave the program since the dismissal of coach Ernie Kent, joining Drew Wiley (Boise State), Josh Crittle(Central Florida), Matt Humphrey (Boston College) and Jamil Wilson(Marquette).

Dunigan signed a three-year contract, according to the club.

A sixth, point guard Malcolm Armstead, sought transfer butlater decided to stay in Eugene after new coach Dana Altman visited Armstead’s parents in Alabama and talked him out of transferring.

Dunigan’s departure also leaves just two members – guards Garrett Sim and Teondre Williams – from the bally-hooed 2008 recruiting classthat also included Wiley, Crittle and Humphrey.

Dunigan, a 6-foot-10, 242-pound junior from Chicago and formerfour-star recruit, averaged 9.0 points and 4.9 rebounds last season andled the Ducks in field goal percentage (55.4 percent) and blocked shots(1.3 per game).

Not really. He was brought in by Ernie Kent. Now, it is Dana Altman’s team. Rosters turn over quite a bit when there are coaching changes. If the guy sees himself as a pro-to-be, it makes just as much sense for him to sign with a club oversees than transfer and sit out a year.

Actually I’m pretty sure if your coach leaves you can transfer without having to sit out a year.

You’d be wrong on that one.
