The man who allegedly attacked Dominique Wilkens after wednesdays Hawks game told police he hit Wilkens because Wilkens owed him money for making him 3 suits..

Rashan S. Michel 36 is a former nba & college basketball referee and previously owned his own clothing store…Michel hit Wilkens in the chest and also hit a security guard..He was arrested and charged with simple battery following the incident..

Thats kind of pathetic, to attack someone over some suits, Im sure they cost a lot but thats why you get the money upfront and then make the suits..simple business transaction

Did the guy take Wilkins to court?  Because that’s how this usually works.  It’s hard to take a chest punch from a tailor too seriously.

I think that option might of went out the window since he attacked him.

especially if hes a ref too

Yeah but busness doesn’t work that why when dealing with rich people. Every top store,Business gives rich people things with the agreement that the person will pay them later. Its actualy kinda backwards. When you’re rich you get things for free or don’t have to pay right away but when you dont have money you have to pay right away and nothing is free

No its not worth it. and i dont agree with it but i understand. When someone owes you alot of money and they can pay it and they walk around liek everything is all good it is very disrespectful and a slap in the face. And word gets around and alot of times other rich guys who you gave stuff to without them paying up front will start to do the same

If it weren’t over $7500, he could take Wilkins to small claims court. I’m sure he still could have done something about it though. He shouldn’t have taken it into his own hands because he definitely wasn’t going to get his money that way. Stupid move.

They suits were reported to be worth 13,000 dollars which is a decent amount of money, but if you’re kicking it at an NBA game close enough to courtside to get to Nique you’re not hurting. You gotta pick your battles, assaulting an NBA legend and a security guard when it’s getting broken up in a public place isn’t the right way to approach something like that.

It cost him 1,000 dollars for his bail and whatever fines and court costs will end up being for his assualt charge, and this was something that happend "several" years ago. I hope his chest punch was worth it, but thats easy for me to say Dominique Wilkins has never owed me 13,000 dollars, maybe he’s a real dick, lol

Remember that famous line Steve Harvey said about Mitch Green fighting Tyson outside of a Night Club. Any here is a picture i found on yahoo about the incident.

Dominique Wilkins attacked following a Hawks game

A man sometimes described as an ex-NBA referee attacked former Atlanta Hawks All-Star and current Hawks broadcaster Dominique Wilkins following Atlanta’s win last night over what the assailant described as an unpaid bill. Wilkins appears to be OK following the incident, and we’ve nothing but questions as a result.

For one, the attacker Rashan Michel (pictured at right, with the battle-weary face) is listed both by the Associated Press and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution as 36 years old, which would make him among the youngest of all current referees working right now. But the AJC initially published an AP shot of Michel, the alleged attacker, refereeing a game between the Miami Heat and Orlando Magic all the way back in 1995 (presumably as a replacement referee during an in-season referee lockout in early 1995-96), which would make the then-20 year old Michel the youngest referee in NBA history — so either the "36" aspect of the story, or the "former NBA referee" aspect of the story seems pretty dubious.

Late Thursday morning, the AJC came through with this report:

Michel, who told police he was owed money for suits purchased several years ago, hit Wilkins in the chest and also hit a security guard, Jones said. Michel, of Atlanta, has worked as an NBA and college basketball referee and previously owned his own clothing store.

"The fan was promptly arrested and was taken into custody by the Atlanta Police Department," Hawks spokesman Arthur Triche said in a statement to the AJC. "At this time the Hawks have no additional information or comment regarding this situation."

NBA.com’s Sekou Smith tweeted that Wilkins got in three "solid" punches during the brief fight, while his assailant landed none.

The AJC reported that Michel tweeted about the incident, saying "I call what happened at Philips Arena earlier, Operation Repo…next time have my money!" Michel claims that Dominique offered the first blow.

Wilkins has enjoyed a relatively unblemished post-NBA career since retiring in 1999. He has served several positions on the Hawks since then before moving up to the ranks of full time on-air analyst this season.

UPDATE: It’s very hard to see, and we can’t embed the clip here at BDL, but there is cell phone video documentation of the fight over at TMZ.
