I don’t know if anyone has posted this yet,but AP is reporting that Gus Johnson is leaving CBS Sports after he and the network failed to agree on a new deal…

Anyone that has listened him the past 16 years know that Johnson’s enthusiastic calls of late second buzzer beaters are just as much apart of the Tournament as those famous brackets..

Johnson’s calls have caused several fans to create youtubes videos of some of his best calls…

Johnson is in talks with Fox Sports to announce some college football games…But listening to the NCAA Tournament will not be the same without GUS!!!!

I’m surprised he did as well on CBS.  Watching him early on as a weekend sports anchor on Fox, he was dreadful… awkward pauses, and miscues.  As live play-by-play person, his enthusiasm made games more entertaining.

Wow, I did not know this. This is really unfortunate I really liked Gus. My favorite call of his was when someone was on the break for a wide open dunk and when they dunked the ball he would go… wazzzzzzuppp

CBS is losing probably one of its best play-by-play announcers, if not the best. Gus Johnson (along with Kentucky in 1999 and Duke in 2001) made me fall head over heels for March Madness. His raw enthusiasm made every close game all the more interesting, regardless of the talents on the court or the bench. His call of the Pac-10 title game this year, when Isaiah Thomas made that end-of-regulation three and it sounded like he was being hacked away by Jason Vorhees, made that exciting game all the more exciting. Somewhere in LA or Boston, Bill Simmons just shed a tear.

this is beyond disheartening, even if it was a foul shot, u know Gus was all in. Atleast we don’t have fauking Billy "fudge" Packer anymore, is he dead yet???

Not to be a negative nanacy but I wasn’t a huge fan of Gus.  His enthusiasm was awesome but dam was he choppy and awkward.  I hope they find someone better to replace him though cuz Gus was still a good fit for March Madness.

His broadcasts are over the top, phoney, and ridiculous.

This is upsetting though! Gus Johnson used to make games SUPER exciting. By far my favorite commentator. The guy could make watching paint dry exciting. Seriously
