jcotingParticipantGordon Hayward and the Utah Jazz are really shocking people this year with their astonishing performances. They have now won 7 straight games and are sitting in sole position at the 7th spot in the tough Western Conference. I have been really impressed with Gordon Hayward’s ability to lead the relatively young Jazz. They have a good core going for them with Hayward in the backcourt and Favors & Gobert in the frontcourt. They are just one good point guard away from really becoming a top 6 contender in the West. If they keep performing like this and develop their chemistry, they will be one of the the underrated teams in the near future.
I predict that Hayward will become an all-star in the next coming years. If he can continue to keep his head in the game and develop his killer instinct, which he already has as proven by the many clutch shots he has hit in the past few seasons, I can see him having a Paul Pierce career. Not getting ahead of myself but maybe Hayward can be the franchice player for the Utah Jazz like Paul Pierce was for the Celtics. What do you guys think?

ZachAttackParticipantThe Jazz already are a really good team, top 6 this season isn’t a ridiculous thought, especially with the Marc Gasol injury to Memphis. They are hot right now… I feel like Hayward deserved to be an all star more than LMA this year, no knock on him, but I just think Hayward played better. I think that if the Jazz can figure out a way to keep this core together, we’ll be a really good team for years to come… It may require some pay cuts, which I could see some players do. Like Hayward maybe signing another 4 year 63 million dollar deal after this one’s up, since the salary will be up.
However, overall, I really love what I’m seeing from my Jazz and can’t wait for Exum to be back next year and for us to rise even more.

Hype MachineCall me bias, but having seen a bit more of the 2014 draft, I’m convinced that the Jazz got the 2 of the best…if not the very best…players in Hood and Exum.
I’m still sad about that Exum injury…People looked at his stats and assumed that he wasn’t having a good Rookie season. However everything I saw from him was impressive, starting with his commitment to improving his defense and 3pt shooting…which were the 2 areas of his game that scouts were most unsure about. The talks about the Jazz trading for a PG are just a waste of breath….they’re committed to Exum coming back and running the team.
Hood is a volume scorer….there’s a good GIF of Quinn Snyder yanking him to the bench and yelling "You’re out there to F#@&$*G shoot the ball!"….which sums up how important his role is to the team, because the rest of the team can’t really get enough points without him to make a run in the playoffs.

trombonematrix43ParticipantWasn’t Hood and Parker the year before the 2014 draft considered almost the same tier as prospects? I always thought Hood was undervalued in the draft and that whoever got him would get a steal.

jcotingParticipantThey even have the second longest winning streak (7 games) right now behind the warriors (10 games). I think it is time the Jazz gets some respect!

llperezim pretty sure everyone viewed the jazz as a team right around .500 that would compete for a playoff spot. And they are 26-25. Who are they shocking? As for Hayward making the all-star team, I don’t see it. Hes borderline, certainly worthy of his contract. but lillard was the biggest snub and next year when blake is healthy he will be ahead of Hayward as well. and for the person who said Hayward should be in over Aldridge, Gordon plays 7 more minutes per game on an inferior team while shooting 7 percentage points lower from the field. He gets 2 more points and that’s about it.
Im not hating, I like the jazz and feel they have done a good job building their team through the draft and keeping hteir talent and they will give someone hell in the first round. But shocking people? How?

Jr. ROXASParticipantHood is a beast. So smooth and under control with his game. He has a really goof feel for scoring the ball and has excellent balance when shooting. I see he can at least be a 18-20 ppg scorer next year. He, Gobert and Hayward make up a really impressive core for the Jazz.
For Exum, I still am not a believer, even before he got injured. If he wants to be the a franchise starting PG in the NBA, he has to improve his ball-handling, a lot. He picks up his dribble way too often and dribbles too high. He also does not have a lot of moves in his arsenal, and is more of a straight-line dribbler. There always the thought that he is still really young, but I argue that at the same age, majority of the NBA PGs were way more advanced in terms of skill. Exum’s just really raw.
However, I can see why a lot of people are high on him. 6’5 with great length and elite quickness. He also is already an above-average set-shooter, and his defense is impressive. Elite physical tools, but he just needs to work a lot on his skills. (shot-creating, ball-handling) I do hope he does develop into an elite NBA PG since he is the one with the potential to be the face of the franchise. Time is on his side though and hope he recovers well from his ACL.

Hype MachineWhich Point Guards are you specifically talking about when you say others were ahead of Exum at the same age?
As far as I’m aware there havent been any prep-to-pro Point Guards in the NBA.
Surely you cant compare Exum playing against Curry, Chris Paul and Russell Westbrook every night against a College freshman playing D1 in the Big East.
Those Western Conference PGs would make any HS Graduate look bad…
