torontoraptors10Participanthttp://www.thescore.com/home/articles/90165-major-ownership-shift-in-the-works MLSE (Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment) and the Ontario Teacher’s Pension Plan, owners of the Raptors, Maple Leafs and Toronto FC could be sold to Rogers Communication who own the Raptors! Any Toronto sports fan knows that ownership is not that great and a change in ownership would do wonders for the Raptors. Rogers Communication already owns the Toronto Blue Jays and they are doing a much better job than MLSE used to do with them and imagine what they can do with the Raptors!

Toronto16ParticipantI’m happy and all that, but is this just about having that pension? Or are they really going to spend to bring in talent?

torontoraptors10ParticipantFrom what I have witnessed in the past 10 years of watching the Leafs and Raptors, MLSE doesn’t care about winning because they know fans will show up. Maple Leaf games are sold out every single game and MLSE knows fans will show up regardless. On your thought about bringing in talent, the Blue Jays were aggressive in bringing Dan Uggla and Justin Upton. In addition, the owner of Rogers Communication put money into increased the Blue Jays salary roll so they can go out and get more players. If that is any indication, I don’t think they would be hesitant to spend money to improve the Leafs and Raptors.

Toronto16ParticipantWell, if they are serious about building a contender for our local sports teams, they can show the city they mean business by firing Bryan Colangelo and Brian Burke.

torontoraptors10ParticipantTo be honest, I think Colangelo and Burke are doing a decent job. I say give Colangelo 1-2 more years. I know he has four makeovers, but the main point he is being aggressive. He is moving away from the Euro way and I wish he didn’t trade Hibbert for O’Neal, but at that time it was the best move for Toronto. He has decent come backs, but hopefully he know Toronto needs to bomb this season to get a high draft pick this year. I DON’T want the Raptors to be one of those teams that almost make the playoffs but don’t make it and get picks from 10-14. We need a top 3 pick and draft Kyrie Irving!

Toronto16ParticipantBut that’s the thing, Colangelo has to pick his poison. If he tanks the season that could cost him his job, but if the Raptors finish 10th in the conference and get the 11th pick, people will be yelling for his head. He must have a big trade up his sleeve with those expiring contracts. As for Burke, trading 2 first rounders for Phil Kessel? You’ve got to be kidding me.

torontoraptors10ParticipantDon’t remind me of that trade, hopefully Seguin and the player the Bruins get this year won’t be good as Kessel haha. Maybe the Raptors will get Pritchard to replace Colangelo.

Bossy13ParticipantI don’t see how new ownership will make much of a difference. This will just be one massive corporate entity changing places with another massive corporate entity.

PHILA9ParticipantOh ya I also agree about what you said Torontoraptors10, all about how fans will show up even if Raptors and Leafs are losing, I bet you even showed up for a Raptors game didn’t you?
A change of scenery would be great for the Toronto.
