I was going to mention Walton, but I am too late. Kerr is better than Jackson. Walton is better than Kerr. Jackson was a very good coach, but they keep getting better ones it seems.

ph90702Memphis should have fired Pastner and hired Walton when they had the chance.

I.C.Y.U.NV.MEParticipantThey’ve been in midseason form since the very first game. Potent offense, solid defense, unselfish, deep, and they have a bonafide superstar. Right now, I don’t see why they can’t get 70 wins.

GreekballinCurry plays too much minutes when they don’t need really need him to.. I think he really likes to pad his stats. The way they are blowing teams, his minutes should be dropped atleast in the 30-32 minutes range. The key here is to be healthy for the playoffs, not break unsignificant records. It only takes 1 freakish injury to Curry to ruin their title chances, even though you can’t 100% control this, you can reduce the risks.

r377ParticipantIf you said to go 72-10 at start of the season that would be pretty hard but having already won 16, they would need to go 56-10 from now onwards to reach that magic milestone. If they could win 17 or 18 of their next 20 games, that figure would go down to 38-8.
To go 56-10 from now onwards they would virtually have to win each 6 of 7 games so 10 lots of 6-1’s would get it done….
Bogut is injury prone but now Ezeli is proving himself, as long as Curry can stay healthy they have a shot at making that milestone

mgreener_34ParticipantThis team is what everyone wanted to SSoL Suns teams to be, and it’s fantastic for the game of basketball. The most appealing part of them is that they are an actual team, and you can tell they generally enjoy playing with and for each other. I also like how they drafted all their core players in Curry, Thompson, Green, Barnes, and Festus, and that it’s great to watch these guys grow together.
I hope they break the record, and wish they dynasty as well. It would be a huge boost for rebuilding teams everywhere, and debunk the myth that you can’t win through drafting in the lottery.

Ahkasi ClayParticipantCould Walton be the first coach to ever win coach of the year without technically ever winning a game?
(All these wins go onto Kerrs record right?)

NBAjunkie81Participantup until about 2000….. The Celtics, Sixers, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls & Spurs post 2000…. but even the teams that won post 2000 Shaq’s Lakers in early 2000’s, the "Big 3" Celtics, Kobe’s 2010 Lakers, Lebron’s Miami teams… All these teams were Built w/ Lottery picks…. granted they were brought in from other teams…. but all the great players are found in the same place….
But No One saw this coming w/ Golden State…. they were trying to acquire Kevin Love a little over a year ago…. I Luv watching them…. I would LUV to see them break the Bulls record….

Memphis MadnessParticipantLooks like the only thing that can stop these guys is the salary cap.
Not only do they have to pay Harrison Barnes at the end of this season, but also Festus Ezeli.
If they ante up and pay them both, then they should be working on a 4peat.
Iggy and Bogut are only signed through the end of 2016-2017, so they aren’t paying a TON of guys.
So, 7 guys and probably Shaun Livingston are basically the team.
Any one here think that they go undefeated until the Christmas game against the Cavs? Their toughest test between now and then is like the Raptors. It looks like if they keep going after that they would get a chance to tie the record of 33 straight wins against the Nuggets — the same team they beat to go 15-0.
33 straight wins seemed like THE NBA team record that would never be broken, but who knows? The Heat got close a couple of years ago with 26 straight, and this team might be BETTER — in a slightly worse league overall.
It’s pretty much like watching the Dream Team every night. The highest level of shooting and passing with some alley-oops thrown in.
On TNT last night, they said that the Warriors were averaging 29 assists a game, which is just shy of the record of 30 assists per game by the ’85 Celtics. So, they could break a TON of records this year.
Who knows if they break the all-time record? So far, though, they are on pace to. Even if they don’t get to the record, going for 70 wins would be HUGE. Especially since no team has won that many games the year after winning the title. The ’97 Bulls won 69 games.
It looks like the toughest part of their schedule is at the very end. In their last four games they play the Spurs twice and the Grizzlies twice. The Spurs are a top 2 or 3 team in the league and the Grizzlies are rounding into form, and could be tough for them, especially if Memphis is fighting for a playoff spot.
Other records to look out for:
Best record with 1 loss: I think Kenny Smith said his Rockets team went 22-1. They have that record.
Bulls started the ’96 season at 38-3.
The ’86 Celtics went 40-1 at home.
And I don’t think any team in NBA history has gone an entire season without losing back to back games.

Greekballinthe league feels so weak honestly.. With Houston, Memphis and New orleans being bad now, the conference have almost evened out, which isn’t good, because the east is still meh.. I can’t wait for the Cavs to get their starting backcourt back healthy.

OhCanada-ParticipantThe beggining of the season is basically like an extended preseason teams are still finding their groove. Around the all-star break is when we will see who is legitimately striving for playoff spots. Houston and Memphis can’t be counted out yet. Although New Orleans stinks!
