Reptilian MonkParticipantThe GOAT Scalabrine, The White Mamba, is reporting from his incredibe sources that Klay could be avaiable via trade.Scalabrine said the trade would send Thompson to the Celtics for Jae Crowder, Avery Bradley and the Brooklyn Nets‘ first-round pick owned by Boston. Golden State would then swap that pick for Nerlens Noel of the Philadelphia 76ers:
In Scalabrine we trust, more accurate sources than Chris Broussard.

nath09ParticipantSo to sum up their activity since the end of last season; that would basically mean Durant, Bradley, Crowder and Noel for Thompson, Barnes, Bogut.
I’m not quite sure all of that makes them better offensively or defensively. All I know is that would deffinitely make them the most hated team in the league. Opposing fans started to hate them for trying to buy a ring by signing Durant and now their own fans wouldn’t be to happy at losing Klay.
I guess the Thompson trade would add to their depth but I’d rather they just stay as they are with three of the best players in the league, see what their bench can provide leading up to the trade deadline and hope McCaw and Looney can develop a bit as the season progresses.

Andv1 WaitingParticipantSo essentially it would be this deal:
Boston: get Klay thompson
for
Warriors: get Jae Crowder,Nerlans Noel and Avery Bradley
and
The 76ers get the brooklyn pick this season.
Issues with this trade: Chemistry Both boston and GSW lose a lot of team chemistry
Boston lose a lot of depth for one player, essentially 3 for 1 (The brooklyn pick would be the 3rd player). Unless they traded the 2018 brooklyn pick for another need.
The GSW fans would probably hate seeing the splash bros being broken up..
The only team that wins this trade: Philly as they get a pick for a player that doesn’t want to be there…
There are only two reasons this deal ever happens though:
Klay says he wants out, GSW really want to get as much depth as possible as they don’t believe they can win with their big 4 and if Boston really really want that other star player. Otherwise I don’t think it will ever materialize.

D7H7NParticipantGSW would never make that trade. Don’t listen any bullcrap narratives that says Klay isn’t happy. Media is trying to start crap.
Nerlens is on his contract year so if that trade happens Warriors would have to give him the max at like 25M/year and then they have to figure out what to do with Curry and if Durant opts out of his 2nd year. Klay is making like 17M/year for the next 2-3 years. It makes zero sense to trade Klay.

Robb_CParticipantThe reason why GSW would eventually have to trade Thompson, is going over a lot of people’s heads.. Jerry West is completely capitalizing on Thompsons red hot stock before its too late,, on top of the fact the NBA has caught on to Golden State as far as how they operate.. Teams are adjusting, so GSW needs to make some roster moves to create some other strengths especially in the playoffs where teams are going to force GSW to play Halfcourt basketball as much as possible..

Robb_CParticipantWhile I dont believe Jerry West pulls the trigger on a Klay Thompson trade unless it blatantly helped improve weaknesses.. I do believe he’s putting feelers out to other teams to gauge his value on the open market.. Just in case the shit hit the fan so to speak

DolanCareParticipantIf GSW moves Klay they need to get a top-level big man in return. I love Jae Crowder, he’s one of the most undervalued players in the league, but they don’t need more wing defense help.
They actually have that covered. They need a rim protector who can alos play within the offense, AKA not Nerlens Noel.
If I were GSW, and I had to move Klay for whatever reason, Denver seems like the better trading partner. Maybe get Nurkic, Barton, Harris and Chandler in return.

The GoatParticipantIm neutral in this but after letting it sink in, I actually like this trade for Golden State. Now, in saying this, Klay is the best player in the deal and the Warriors were a game from going back to back. But, I have a serious concern about their depth. I think they are a Draymond Green injury away from being out of contention. Klay himself is great on both ends, but is no joke. He can defend at a high level and shoot the ball. Crowder can defend 4 positions. Klay is better than both, but if you get two guys like this, plus the Nets pick in a stacked draft (whether it goes for Noel or not), they have to consider the deal.
They aren’t going to win more (i.e. beat Cleveland) with IT, Klay and Horford. Jaylen Brown isn’t ready, plus they lose the extra pick.

ashock34ParticipantI like it for GS as Crowder very underated and is a Dawg! Ainge loves the guy. Bradley good exp pg. and Noel puts them over the top defensively. They have enough outside shooting. Crowder no slouch there.
Philly would get a pick around 10 which is fair.
Boston? Klay can shoot with best of them. A real need for Celts but the C’s need an inside presence as well. Not sure how they get that. I forget GS deal and just tade Nets pick to Sixers for Noel. Nets arent as bad as some think. They might finish out of top ten lottery picks. Right now they are #13.

binetParticipantPhiladelphia would probably accept an Iguodala-Noel swap right now. Something built around this make more sense to me.
This is certainly a non reliable speculative rumor though. 76ers are never getting decent return on their bigs.

HitsterParticipantInteresting trade, I just wonder if GSW would be tempted to hold onto that pick if the trade went down and see where it ended up in the draft.
