I’m actually kind of excited. I think a team like the lakers with a strong coach and a strong cast of personalities(Kobe, etc.) would be good for him.

the only thing about this is he may be taking Shannon Brown’s place as the high flyer if Shannon doesn’t resign, but what if he does, Shannon and Gerald running the wings with Lamar bringing it up the floor. alley oops galore.

This is good for the Lakers and Green a young guy to put behind Kobe and a first class organization, add Ebanks and then the Lakers have a nice wing combo for the future if they MAX out

Dumb and no interest in playing defense doesn’t get a player very far with a contender, but we’ll see what a year in exile did for him. If he learned from his experience in Russia, he is still young enough to amount to something.

Gerald Green is not worthy of a NBA roster spot. He was never any good… he will never be any good. He can’t play… you’ll just have to get over it. Winning slamdunk contests is not basketball.

When you are playing for a Celtics team that was lead by Telfair and Pierce, playing defense doesnt mean anything because you know you arent going to compete for anything.. Playing for the Wolves, or whoever else he played for doesnt encourage defense..

Playing with Kobe and Artest, who are 2 of the best perimeter defenders in the league, and playing for championships every year can motivate a player.. Green as potential to be Ariza.. I think at this point in his career, that is the best anyone can hope for.. Im not talking about LA Ariza, im talking about Houston Ariza.. The guy that can score on his own, defend 2s and 3s and is a valuable asset to a team.. Ariza is his maxed out potential…

There is still hope for this guy..

I’m smelling what you are stepping in…. bit I’m not buying it. He doesn’t have the mental make-up to be a NBA player.
He has shown no signs of becoming a player. He also failed playing for his Home town Houston Rockets. They tired of him in about 30 days…. Mavericks brought him in and had no use for him in short order.

This was a very nice addition to the Lakers summer league roster, he can be a much cheaper alternative to Shanwow. Kobe, Fish, Artest, and Phil will mold him into solid player just as they did with Ariza, and Shannon.

Green can dunk and shoot and run the floor. You would think he would have stuck somewhere by now. Dallas gave him a chance a while ago, and he lit it up a few times, but his defense was just too crummy for Carlisle to trust him. Dallas tracks adjusted plus/minus, and his lack of defensive effort and missed assignments and rotations wiped out any positive contribution he made on the offensive end.

Lakers just needed someone with “potential”. Look at their team, they don’t have anyone besides Bynum.. and SB12 is gone. Everyone else is old/at their peak, or just a scrub (of course im excluding the draftees).

I know one thing, he better put on his best t-mac impersonation (who he was compared to out of hs), if he wants to make the team.
