European BasketballerParticipantI have seen several times here, when I ask why is Georgios Papagiannis so low in draft rankings, that the answer is given because he probably has a very big contract buyout, and so he can’t come to the NBA for many years.
But, his NBA buyout amount is €500,000 euros, which is same right now as $565, 000 American dollars. And he has this buyout option in his contract right in this summer, and in every summer off season, for as long as his contract lasts.
NBA teams can pay $650,000 towards buyout, so this means whatever team drafts him, can pay his whole buyout without any problem.
Also, he has one of the lowest salaries of any player on his team, so that means he can be even with late first round draft pick, he can earn a similar salary than he earns now in Panathinaikos.
His salary in Panathinaikos (as I say one of the lowest) is in the way NBA counts salary, at $1,100,000 per season, plus the bonuses of car, house, and living expenses paid for. With the bonuses, it comes to about $1,247,000 per season in how NBA would count it.
Even last pick of NBA 2016 first round of draft is set at $943,300, $985,700, and $1,028,200 for 3 years of contract.
So Papagiannis can easily bought out by whatever NBA team drafts him (with him not having to pay any towards it), and he can make similar money in NBA, even with last pick of first round.
So again, none of these excuses or explanations as to why he is so low in draft ranklings make any sense. There is no financial reason for him to not come directly to NBA if he is drafted in first round. So there should be no reason for that to lower his draft stock, as is claimed so many times.

European BasketballerParticipantNBA is about 10 years behind Euroleague in that/ Euroleague has been playing with small ball athletic centers for years and years before the NBA started doing it. Papagiannis has been considered a dinosaur relic ever singe he started playing in Greece.
Yet he had no problems dealing with all the small ball. In fact, the teams he has played on in Greece (Peristeri and Panathinaikos) play small ball almost exclusively. Yet Papagiannis was able to make a role for himself in Panathinaikos, with a coach that is known as being almost strictly a 100% pure small ball style coach.

ItsVictorOladipoParticipantI’ve read a few rumors that he’ll end up going in the late 1st round, it will be exciting to see what happens!
