freshman gaurd matt carlino is leaving UCLA to transfer. He led Bloomington South High in Indiana to a 23-1 record. He was expected to help contribute immediately at UCLA as reserve off the bench but has yet to play this year. He has not yet decided where he is going.

hiphopismylifeParticipantIm shocked, then again it kinda makes sense lol.
For those who don’t know, this kid is from Arizona originally, and commited to IU as a sophomore. He and his family then moved to Bloomington so he could play for Bloomington South high school and be close to the program. After a great season as a junior that saw him average about 13,4, and 5 on a balanced squad, he decommited as a result of IU’s struggles last year.
He reopened his recruitment and surprisingly chose UCLA, where it seemed like he would have a harder time getting on the floor, and who had only won 14 games to Indiana’s 10 last year. He then graduated early and enrolled a year ahead to play for the Bruins.
He got a concussion in preseason and had to sit out three games, but even after getting cleared didn’t see any action in the next four games so he’s transferring.
I might be a bit biased, but I felt like he would have been better off going to IU. He could have competed for major minutes right away, and the group they have is bound to keep improving. He’s a nice, complete player though, we’ll see where he ends up.
