Lorenzo Brown has signed a contract to play for KK Crvena Zvezda in Serbia next season.

Brown played for the Raptors last season before being waived in January. He then joined the Guangzhou Long-Lions in China and averaged 25.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.9 assists.

Sam Dekker is close to finalizing an agreement with Russian team Lokomotiv Kuban.

According to the report by Emiliano Carchia of Sportando, the deal has just a few details to be ironed out before completion. Dekker, a first-round pick of the Rockets in 2015, was traded from Cleveland to Washington during last season. Dekker was unable to carve out a regular role in his first four seasons in the NBA, making a move abroad a sensible decision.

Shabazz Muhammad has signed with Shaan Xi Wolves of the Chinese NBL.

The Bucks waived Muhammad last October and he signed on with the Shanxi Brave Dragons in China. He averaged 29.7 points and 11.2 rebounds in China last season.

Jonas Jerebko is reportedly nearing a contract agreement with a Russian team.

Panathinaikos signed guard Jimmer Fredette to a two-year contract, the Greek club announced.

The 2011 NCAA Player of the Year, former 10th overall pick, and 2016-17 China scoring champ will now give it a go in Greece. He played in six games for the Suns last season, and the journeyman’s signing with Panathinaikos might finally signal the end of his NBA career.

Center Timofey Mozgov signed with a Russian team.

Former NBA big man Justin Hamilton has re-signed with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to Sportando.

Assuming Jerebko does finalize a deal with Khimki, he’ll be the third player to join the team after playing in the NBA in 2018/19. Timofey Mozgov and Dairis Bertans have also signed with the EuroLeague club.

Former UNC standout James Michael McAdoo, who won a pair of titles with Golden State and spent some time with the Sixers, is headed back to Europe for 2019/20. Turkish club Besiktas announced today (via Twitter) that it has signed McAdoo, who played in Italy last season.

I’m really surprised no NBA team made Jerebko a good offer. If you can crack the Warriors’ rotation then you can help out any NBA team.

The amount of money that went out this summer left some vets in a bind. At this moment in time, GMs like their free agent pickups and rookies. With the number of huge contracts putting a number of teams up around the luxury tax line. According to spotrac, half of the league is either over or within $4 million of the tax. This probably has not been the case since the salary cap jumped with the current tv deal. This stinks for Jerebko, Stephenson, Lin, Melo, Monroe, Faried, JR, Noah, Shumpert, Beasley Crawford, etc. Even if they are on the minimum, their minimum is still close to double that of an undrafted or 2nd round rookie. As the season progresses, the opinion of the rookies and free agent signings will often change. Does a guy want to wait to sign? Does he want to go to China, and then sign in late March? Does he want to go to the Euroleague, presumably get minutes and excel, and try again next summer when the free agent pool is lighter? I don’t think there is a best approach. Honestly, the tax assessment for minimum players should be something the union should negotiate in the next CBA. It is already somewhat discounted, but clearly not enough to alter behavior of teams.

Melo Trimble & Terrico White also in the NBL.

I see SBS now has the tv rights to the nbl

Australia’s National Basketball League (NBL) has partnered with SBS in a new broadcasting deal in one of the most substantial moves for a sport returning to free-to-air TV coverage.

        Key Points:

        • Channel Nine has opted out of its three-year NBL broadcast deal after one season
        • SBS and ESPN will combine to broadcast all of the League’s 126 matches, live
        • The upcoming International Basketball Series will be exclusive to SBS, within Australia

Under the two-year deal, SBS will show 67 games — up to four matches a round — live on its Viceland channel on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, starting in October.

The remaining 59 games will be shown by pay TV channel ESPN.

All finals will be simulcast on both networks and every game will be available via streaming on SBS On Demand.

Greg Monroe has signed a contract with Bayern Munich of the German Basketball Bundesliga, Emiliano Carchia of Sportnado reports.

He is replacing Derrick Williams who played there last season

Former Arizona Wildcats forward Derrick Williams, who won a Bundesliga championship with Bayern Munchen in Germany this summer, will be signing a one-year deal $1.5mill with Turkish club Fenerbahce, according to EuroHoops.net.

Make more money. Get more playing time. Kind of a no-brainer.

For non-rotation guys going overseas from now on probably makes sense.

Although this will water down NBA, G League, and summer league rosters.  Summer league rosters seemed really watered-down this year — and not just because lots of the lotto guys sat it out.  I think of players with "NBA Bench Caliber talent" didn’t even bother to do summer league this year.

NBA minimum is $1.6mill.  You have to travel for 82 games, get splinters in your arse every night riding the pine hoping it will be a blow out so you can get 5-7 minutes in garbage time or choose to go overseas, be a star and get quality playing time for 20-30 games for $1-3 mill.

Jerian Grant has reportedly agreed to a deal with a club in the Chinese Basketball Association.

Grant didn’t receive any interest during free agency, but he should get a nice payday overseas. He’ll be able to return stateside at the conclusion of the CBA season

Wayne Selden is expected to sign a deal with Shangdong in China.

It’s a one-year deal worth $3.5M, an offer he wasn’t going to see in the NBA.

Malachi Richardson has inked a deal with Hapoel Holon of the Israeli league.

Richardson spent three years in the NBA, playing for the Kings and Raptors. He played in 70 games and made no impact.

Tyler Dorsey has signed a contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel.

Dorsey’s deal is for one year, though there’s an option for a second year. He played his first two seasons in the NBA, appearing in 104 games with the Hawks and Grizzlies.

Reports out of China suggest that Jeremy Lin is in advanced talks to sign with the Beijing Ducks of the CBA.

Lin’s NBA market has apparently been non-existent this summer, which has led him to consider opportunities abroad. Recently, he said that he was considering a move to China for the year, and it appears that may be coming to fruition. Lin is currently in Beijing at a basketball camp.
