Kentucky big man Marcus Lee withdrew his name from the 2016 NBA Draft on Wednesday and announced he would seek a transfer. It looks like Lee will have a lot of options to choose from when he selects a new program.

Georgia Tech, Baylor, Kansas, Gonzaga and Iowa State have already reached out to Lee, according to a report from Rivals’ Jeff Rabjohns.

Despite having just one semester at Kentucky left before graduating, Lee will sit out a year before resuming basketball activities in a different location. He wanted to be closer to his home in Antioch, Cailf.

“I want to thank the University of Kentucky, the basketball staff and the Big Blue Nation for supporting me over the years,” Lee said in a statement on Wednesday. “I’m sorry it took me so long to come to this decision, but I’m trying to do what’s right for me and my family. I’ll always think fondly of my time at Kentucky.”

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 3.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and one block over three seasons with the Wildcats, but there could have been a logjam for playing time at his position. Kentucky will add three forwards — Bam Adebayo, Wenyen Gabriel and Sacha Killeya-Jones — next season that are ranked in the top eight of the 247Sports Composite.

“We talked it through together and discussed the team next season, which he (Lee) said had no bearing on his decision,” Kentucky coach John Calipari said. “I also told him he was a semester away from graduating. With that said, he was still adamant that, after the combine experience, a year off and regrouping would be the best thing. As always, I support my players and their decisions.”

     Good options

KU- Self loves tough defensive bigs. Could fit well with KU’s highly organized defensive schemes.

Baylor- Drew loves his athletes. Lee would be given full reign to run around and make plays/ mistakes.

Zags- Can’t see any bigs in the WCC contesting Lee athletically. Could even get some offensive post touches here.

    Bad option

GT- Pastner has had bigs like Black and Nichols transfer on him already. I don’t see him develop bigs very well.

    IDK

ISU- New coach. Don’t follow them enough to know Prohm’s coaching philosophy. They obviously were run n gun, shooting team this year. But with the roster Prohm inherited, he would be a moron to do anything else this past year.

He said he is doing this to do right by his family and it’s about being closer to his family in the Bay Area. Unless he changes his mind on that, I’m not sure why he would leave Kentucky to go to Kansas, Georga or Iowa. The big schools would obviously be Stanford and cal. Not sure what his grades are but Stanford doesn’t give slack for being an athlete so unless he’s Ivy League level in the classroom that leaves cal

I look at his progress skill-wise and physically and I wonder what the hell he did at Kentucky.

Iowa St isn’t exactly "close to home" but I think that’d be the best fit for him IMO.  They’ve done a great job in recent years making transfers look good, they play a free flowing up and down style that suits him and I think he can reprise the role that Jameel McKay has played for them.  Will that drastically improve his draft stock? Probably not, but he already left his stock in shambles by showing very little improvement in 3 years.  There’s also less of a likelihood he’d get recruited over at Iowa St.
