 This is my first official mock of the year. I would greatly appreciate it if quite a few of you could help critique my mock so I can form a better one come draft day. My main focus was on the first round, I took thought into my second round but it was nowhere near where I wanted it to be.

Please help me.

It’s impossible to accurately predict who will be picked, but I have a hard time with the Bulls drafting another small forward in Darius Miller especially since they took Jimmy Butler last year and obviously still have Luol Deng with a good chance of resigning Kyle Korver.

I don’t think that Jeremy Lamb will go as low as 18, but it’s not impossible particularly after watching his interview video.

I also agree wtih UConnMonster, why would the Celtics draft Teague when their best player is a point guard and they may have some holes if Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett don’t return.

 I don’t think they are as productive without Rondo in the game and I feel as though they need that upgrade from Bradley because he is not a true 1.

My mock draft is pretty similar to yours. Picks 2-6 will vary among almost everyone’s mocks, but after that we’re thinking along the same lines. We have 12 picks in common.

The main difference between our mocks is Jeremy Lamb. I have Lamb going to the Hornets at #10, while you have him falling to the T’Wolves at #18. I don’t see anyway Lamb falls past #15 in my opinion. Lamb put up 17.7 PPG, 4.9 RPG, and 1.8 APG in the Big East.

If you have a reason for putting Lamb at #18, I’d like to hear your explanation, but otherwise this is a good mock draft.

 ^Teague would be the BPA so there is nothing wrong with that. Perry Jones seems a little to high. I don’t think Lamb falls that far. I think Cavs pick Barnes if he is there though. Beal might be the better player, but being friends with their star PG will swing things his way.

Granted that the first four go as you propose my comments are the following:

Sacramento has no real use for Barnes and Barnes has no use for Sacramento. Its not like they lack scoring options, they have one too many of those, but a defensive presence. I can see them rolling the dice with Drummond.

Portland will most probably pick Lillard. Felton didn’t pan out, not in the slightest, and they are in need of a pure PG.

GSW will grab Barnes in a nanosecond if he’s available when they pick.

 @220- The thing with Darius Miller is he may have been a bench player for UK but he could have started for just about any other collegiate team. Miller was the leader of that UK squad not Davis especially the way he played against Iowa State in the Tourney. I just cannot see him not sliding in the tail end of the first round with his size and skill set.

@cuseflynn10- Haven’t had a chance to glance at your mock yet but I’m pleased to see that you agree with the majority of my picks which shows I don’t have that many holes. When it comes to Jeremy Lamb I just see him being the guy to fall off on the boards and with the way Ross is going I see him taking his spot at the tale end of the lottery because I would have slated Lamb to go to Houston if it were not for Ross.

@Makaros-I don’t see where you are going with the whole Barnes does not fit in Sacramento. Barnes is basically BPA for a position of need, because if MKG were to fall at 5 he would be the pick to the Kings. What do you have to say about MKG to the Kings in place of Barnes? Lillard to Portland does not make any sense due to the fact I have Drummond at 6 and him going to New Orleans at 10. I can see if he was not the best PG available he could swap places with Marshall.

@derrickrose231- Perry Jones cannot fall out of the lottery with his size skill set and potential. It would be a mockery if he slides. Keep in mind I said Lamb will be the one to slide come draft day.

I think that Darius Miller is a good player, but my the main reason I don’t believe that the Bulls would draft him would be because of the players they already have on the roster. At the shooting guard and small forward position they have Luol Deng, Rip Hamilton, and Jimmy Butler (who was drafted last year). The tough part is CJ Watson, Kyle Korver, and Ronnie Brewer are all free agents. Derrick Rose is going to be out for the entire season next year and may have a huge gap at point guard if CJ Watson isn’t resigned.

It’s possible that Darius Miller is drafted but having 2 good players at the 2 and 3 and last year’s first round pick Jimmy Butler…I don’t see them drafting another swingman, but who knows. It’s going to be a tough year for the Bulls and their fans without Rose. It will start at the draft, they’ll probably take someone they wouldn’t have if everyone was healthy.

Nothing else other than what I mentioned. I wouldn’t really call them holes just things that are questionable. A lot of teams don’t make the smart move and load up on similar prospects like the Hawks and 76ers did for a few years.

I think it would be smarter for the Bulls not to take a swingman, but it’s certainly not my career on the line if something goes wrong. Just my opinion, but it’s tough for the Bulls knowing they won’t have Rose. I wouldn’t be surprising if they just went with the best two way prospect available at their pick which very well could be Darius Miller. The Bulls will definitely need some offense with Rose out.
