Jordan is the better athlete, better shooter, and has more experience. He also was held back in LA playing in the triangle with a short leash while agustin had more freedom when on the court.

playing in that triangle offense…hide his talent..

but it also helped him improve his game..like moving without the ball…

You and a ton of LA guys told me this guy is gonna be free once he gets out the triangle. That’s why I wanted NY to throw the 4yr-19mil on him. Alas, that’s why I should be NY GM in 3 years.

 If harris goes to the bobcats, he’ll be the starter. While he isn’t a top 5 pg, you can make the argument that he’s top 10 when on his game. Last season should be thrown out because it was clear he, along with many other nets, stopped caring to a point once the season was clearly down the tubes.

It’s not a given he’d start over Augustin. Augustin is probably a better passer and he’s definitely a better shooter than Farmar is. I don’t think either is more than a backup PG, but I actually think Augustin is a better fit as a starter than Farmar is, and I don’t think either would completely beat one another out in a competition for the spot.

Augustine is a 39-40% three-point shooter. Farmar can shoot, but I’d give Augustine the edge there. I think it’s a toss-up as to who is better, but I’d start Farmar. He has championship pedigree/experience. He’s paid his dues and I think he’s ready to be given that role.

On another note… A lot of people questioned Farmar signing with the Nets because he said he wanted to start, but everyone knew Harris was the starter. Well, it looks like Farmar will get his chance to start afterall.

 I don’t think Melo requested a trade so his starting point guard could be DJ Augustine.  I think Farmar will beat him out too, but this trade makes no sense to me, he’s leaving a a legit team in the West to a team that even with him will most likely be a bottom seed in the East and get kicked out by Miami or Orlando in the 1st round.

How legit are the Nuggets?

Billups will be 34 and is slowing down. Nene will be 29 and has had a couple of signifcant knee injuries. Birdman is 33 and coming off of a significant knee injury/surgery. Martin will be 33 and I’d hate to see a X-Ray/MRI of his knees. JR Smith is a headcase and they want him gone. George Karl is still somewhat questionable.

The core of the Nuggets is old and their key free-agent acquisitions were Al Harrington, Shelden Williams and Melvin Ely.

I can’t blame him for wanting to leave. I mean, just how many good seasons does this team have left?

The Nuggets had a weak year last season, but they have Ty Lawson who in my opinion will be a very good point guard and a legit replacement when Billups retires or leaves.  You’re right they are old, but I think they are a team that can re-load as quickly as a team like the Nets will take to become a legit contender.  Martin and Nene still have trade value.  The real question is Karl, if he stays healthy and wants to continue coaching the Nuggets will be okay with Carmelo on the team.  Say they reload and trade away some older peices to a contender for some younger talent, as long as they have Carmelo I don’t see them being any worse than NJ this year with him.

Based on the fact that Farmar has never shot better from 3-point range than Augustin has. Also, based on the fact that Augustin has a MUCH better mid-range game than Farmar, who’s a open spot-up 3-point shooter, or a guy who scores at the rim either in transition or in the dribble drive.

Farmar really isn’t better than Augustin at anything really. Not anything I can think of, except he has more leaping ability and he has the intangibles of playing a limited role on championship teams. I don’t think Farmar’s championship experience (which he played a limited role in) will matter all that much on a team where he won’t be a difference-maker in a championship run as a starter. Say what you want, but Farmar isn’t going to make any team better in extended minutes.

dont underestimate that experience farmar has gotten in the playoffs and write it off becasue he had a limited role. He has learned a lot and was playing on the best team in the league. Augustin also played a lmited role in the playoffs last season and he struggled wile playing on the worst team to even make the playoffs last year.

i think farmar ends up starting over him. i think his game just wasnt suited for the triangle

are solid from deep in my opinion (farmar/augustin) .. I think Augustin is better from deep, and Farmar better from mid. i might be talking crazy, but im not sure if augustin has an inbetween game.

People forget that Farmar is only 23, and he is explosive (idk how said he wasn’t) .. he’s just not shannon brown (all athletic ability)

Neither is a great mid-range player, but Farmar is MUCH less of a factor from mid-range than Augustin. Farmar rarely if ever shoots mid-range shots, where Augustin doesn’t shoot them all that well, but he does with more frequency and probably more effectiveness than Farmar.
