mikeyvthedonParticipantI always wondered when we would see some serious prospects from India, and I wish him all the best. It would be totally awesome if he became an Indian Yao Ming, heck I would love anything from any culture close to another Yao Ming. The Bhullar’s are both Canadians of East Indian descent, but this guy is the real thing. His grandmother was 6-9! Geez. Well, I would love it if he developed into a big time prospect. Anytime someone with that type of size comes around, I am intrigued. Love post play, and am always looking for the next big Center prospect.

PureshooterParticipantA) Can I see a birth certificate? A LEGIT birth certificate?
B) If he grows into his ears he’ll be about 8’4". Check those things out in the second pic.

MkadozaParticipantTheres absolutely no reason to doubt his age. India is a first world country and a democracy. No secrecy involved in age. I mean if his dad is 7’2, and his GRANDMOTHER was 6’9, why doubt? Its obviously good enough to start school in the states. I just have two curiosities. First and more importantly, will he be good? Like Yao Ming good? And how big will he get? Like Yao Ming big? The comparisons will obviously be there because of the size and trailblazer status. But if Basketball could get a foothold in India as good as it has one in China, Eastern Europe, and starting in Brazil, you’d have half the world as hardcore basketball fans.
In the biggest emerging markets (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) I’d be willing to bet Basketball is the fastest growing sport, and that makes me very very happy.

ChrispyParticipantNot about his age, but about gigantism. If there is anything abnormal about his growth it will be discovered around this age. The unregulated growth caused by an overactive pituitary gland has felled several biggest of the bigs. I just don’t want to see him go the way of others with gigantism like Kenny George (amputated foot) or Muresan (medication and surgery for his whole life). Time will tell, but the look of his hands and his appearance of advanced age are worrying signs of gigantism. Just look it up and you will see what I mean.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantI have no reason to doubt the birth certificate. He just looks old in that Andy Reid punt, pass, and kick sort of way.
I do wonder if a physician or pediatrician was to see a 14-year old of that size whether it would be normal to immediately check for gigantism. Obviously, if Shelden Williams and Candace Parker have tall children, nobody would be surprised. Then again, simply because height runs in this guy’s family, I am not sure if it necessarily rules out gigantism.

PureshooterParticipantIndia is most certainly a first world country, but he looks extremely old, especially in his face and agree that he could be 14 but gigantism could be a factor. I said the same thing about seeing a legit birth certificate for Greg Oden. It has nothing to do with him being from India.

BothTeamsPlayedHardParticipantLong and rather interesting read. A decade ago, the NBA sought a potential star from China. After Wang Zhi Zhi and Mengke Bateer, they found Yao and he has had a transformative impact on the business of the league. Opening the door to growing the game in India would have a similar impact. It is fascinating how this multi-national corporation, IMG, scours India trying to make it happen. He is only 15.

iguapops420ParticipantDamn, Kenny George had his foot amputated. That sucks, I was just remembering him the other day wondering what had happened to him and why he never even had a chance in the NBA. That’s sad man. Not sure bout this kid.

The Scare Crow ReturnsParticipantWouldn’t be surprised to see this kid in the WWE…

mikeyvthedonParticipantVideo on IMG’s scholarship program. It shows him balling, looks like a pretty normal kid, except for the fact he is 7 feet tall. Plus, in one of the related vids, it shows homeboys dad, dude is legit 7-2. Cool story though, we will see how it progresses.

HitsterParticipantThere were doubts about Yi Jianlian’s actual date of birth although 1987 seems to be the listed year. Some sites list Hasheem Thabeet as being born in 1985 and not 1987 and Dikembe "Mount" Mutombo was often rumoured to be older than he actually stated throughout his career which makes you wonder in amazement at some of the stats he put up if he was older than he stated.
