Unfortunate to see that Rodney White, a former hooper who led UNC Charlotte to the NCAA Tournament a decade ago, has gotten himself into a bit of trouble. Via the Charlotte Observer: “Rodney White, who led UNC Charlotte’s basketball team to the 2001 NCAA tournament and was a first-round NBA draft pick, was arrested Tuesday in Iredell County and charged with managing what investigators called ‘an elaborate’ marijuana-growing operation in Alexander and Iredell counties. White, 31, is scheduled for an initial court appearance today in Statesville, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office. Investigators say they linked White to a marijuana-growing operation near the Alexander County town of Hiddenite. He was arrested at a home in Mooresville, along with a woman identified as Nicole Denise Jackson. Three young children were in the home, deputies say. … Detectives say the two men admitted their involvement in the operation. ‘During the search, an elaborate underground bunker was located, where detectives found a hidden marijuana grow room,’ Redmond said. Based on that discovery, agents got a search warrant for a residence on Montibello Drive in Mooresville. Redmond said detectives found more than four pounds of marijuana; an assortment of firearms; grow lights; planting materials; and other items used to grow marijuana. Investigators said they also found items that linked the residence to the Alexander County operation. White and Jackson were charged with felony manufacture of marijuana; felony possession of marijuana; maintaining a dwelling for marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia. White also was charged with conspiracy to manufacture marijuana, Redmond said.”

If you saw this dude play in college,you would’ve said he was going to have a very good career..Before the 2001 draft Jerry West said he had the most upside out of everyone in the draft…But he never became dedicated to improving his game…I remember reading how then Pistons coach Rick Carlise yanked him out of the game and yelled and cursed at him on the bench for failing to play defense on 3 straight plays…
I guess the reason he was a bust was becuz he was heavy into drugs back then…

I remember going to a Heat vs Nuggets game back in the 2004-05 season and watching Rodney White warm up… I remember thinking "damn this dude sucks". I know it was only warm ups, but it was obvious that he wasnt an NBA player. He looked over weight, slow, and was clanking almost every jumper he put up. Even Wang Zhi Zhi looked like a beast during warm ups wetting 25 foot three pointers like nothing. Of course when the game started Wang didn’t do shiiit. Rodney White… it all makes sense now. lol

I played against Rodney when he was a sophomore in High School, he wasnt too good then. Just Big. But then he transferred to a school Va and became a totally different player. I couldnt believe it was the same Rodney White. He was a matchup nightmare in college, I thought he had a future in the League and I was wondering why he didnt last. Maybe he was to be a street pharmacist instead of a basketball player.

I never got the point of arresting people for cannabis. Frankly I’d more happy with the idea of arresting people for alcohol abuse. Marijuana shouldn’t be illegal. I am actually trying to find ways to get access to legal marijuana although this may seem impossible at this point. I did find this resource on cannabis seeds UK and I plan to use it the best way I can.

There was a time when I heard good news about him that he was following a treatment at a drug rehab California so now to get arrested – is really weird! Shows that people don’t really change that easily. That’s why it’s better to stay out from drugs in the first time! If you want to live a normal and healthy life say no to drugs. But, there are people who just won’t settle with that. I am really sorry for them..
