…the 76ers possible draft.  I know that Aran and the guys don’t have Julius Randle falling to the 10th pick, but I have seen quite a few other mocks that have guys like Elfrid Payton jumping into the Top 10 (ESPN has the Kings taking him at #8 and Randle falling to 10th).  If you would have told us last year at this time that the Pelicans would be trading FOR Jrue Holiday, and the 76ers would draft Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel with their picks I would have laughed.  Especially if you would have told me that MCW would go on to win ROY.  Then, if you would have told me that the 76ers tanked during the year and STILL only recieved the #3 pick, as well as the Pelicans pick being #10 that they have a chance to get Wiggins and Randle I would have thought you were crazy.  That means that they get Noel, Randle, Wiggins, and MCW (with MCW already proving that he has NBA talent with a ROY under his belt).  Now, this doesn’t mean that the 76ers have even 1 All-Star on their roster from these guys.  They could all end up being good, not great, NBA players.  I believe that Wiggins has a chance to be elite and the other 3 have fringe all-star talent, but they could be even better than that (or worse).

Every year there are huge surprises.  Teams trade up/down, international guys get taken very high or taken as draft and stash prospects, teams draft for need and stud prospects slip out of the Top 7 or so picks.  I think even the most optimistic 76ers fan couldn’t have predicted this type of luck (and skill by the front office) after the disaster that was Andrew Bynum.  As a Bulls fan who saw the 76ers as an 8 seed beat my 1 seeded Bulls and THEN get Andrew Bynum, I thought they had a chance to be a rising team just a few years ago.  Then, Bynum turned into…well, I guess the current version of Andrew Bynum, and Doug Collins quit and the team went into rebuild mode.  This is a damn good way to go about rebuilding in the current NBA, although I don’t know if I agree with all of the 2nd rounders, but they could move those for future late 1sts because of the salary cap implications of a 2nd rounder and how desireable that becomes to competing teams trying to cheaply fill out their rosters.  Of course, this is all a prediction.  They could end up with Joel Embiid and Nik Stauskas.  We won’t know until we know.  But, they have the potential to add franchise talent with multiple picks in consecutive drafts without having the #1 pick.

Any other major suprises that you would have laughed out loud at had someone "predicted" it to happen?  Even 4 months ago?  2 months ago?  Cleveland getting the #1 pick again is one, but that is more just dumb luck.  I guess it just seems that every year the draft proves that future all-stars slip out of the top group and teams that are constantly in the lottery make stupid mistakes by reaching on guys because they already have 2 young PF’s (or PG’s, or C’s, etc.) on their roster and let true talent slide.  Just wondering if anything has shocked you guys out there.

Honestly This might be THE most unpredictable draft in years, so many rumors and dynamics. I think almost anything could happen in this draft, I have heard any and everything at this point, whether it be trades with established players or prospects. Very exciting time for nba fanatics.

Anything the Cavs do. They’ve been poop the last two drafts and I’d be surprised if they actually make a GOOD pick as well as them failing. They have 3 chances of making the right decision but Cleveland is an organization I wouldn’t bet on making a good decision.
Also I would be surprised if Kyle Anderson falls to SA because he’d be absolutely perfect there.

I keep hearing whispers that they really like Exum.  Selecting Exum #2 would in the realm of unthinkable to me with Embiid, Parker and Wiggins in the draft.

sixers selecting exum with parker or wiggins still on the board would be a slap in the face ad I would be irate like when I first heard the jru holiday deal.

I think embiid or randle slipping a make me start a countdown to ten and would have me on the edge of my seat.

I say the shock would be someone gatecrashing the top 3 plus if someone other than Aaron Gordon got chosen in the 4 to 7 range where the 2nd tier guys are. Personally I think we can virtually call it a 5 man 2nd tier with Gordon in the mix now but I have a feeling that someone else may go higher as it nearly always happens.
