European BallerParticipantRemember the name
Last week, Kostas Sloukas hit the shot of the season, forcing overtime in Istanbul, where his Olympiacos team eventually lost to Galatasaray Medical Park. Every Euroleague fan will remember his name for that shot. This week, as the Reds downed Anadolu Efes by 18 points, he made things happen with "real basketball". Right after Efes forced a 53-53 tie to start of the fourth quarter, Sloukas took over and scored 8 points without a miss by using the four basic ways to score: a layup, the freee throw that came with it, a two-point jumper and a three-pointer. Olympiacos used his points for an 11-0 run that Efes never came back from. With CSKA undefeated for the season, Olympiacos is likely battling with Efes and GS Medical Park for the other playoffs berth from their group. If the Reds are able to survive, remember his miraculous shot, yes, but also remember how Sloukas didn’t need luck to spark an 18-point Olympiacos win against Efes from what was a tie game with 10 minutes left.

Scottoant93ParticipantAs i mentioned in your other thread which got deleted he is probably the future of Greece Basketball, i have never heard of him but i know he’s 22 and i dont see him being anything in the nba, he may be the Future of Greece Basketball though. Quit trying to make him something hes not, hes the future of your country’s league(people say your greek, so im going off that, if not i apoligize) There is absolutely no shame in that, you should be proud.

European BallerParticipantAnd Sloukas was being guarded in the game against Efes at varuois times by 3 players that played in the NBA – Tarence Kinsey, Oliver Lafayette, and Sasha Vujacic. So don’t give me this nonsense about, "he didn’t do it against NBA players".

BigDParticipantThose 3 players that you mentioned have a terrific reputation of being good defenders in the NBA, thus why they lasted such a long time in the league.

European BallerParticipantTunceri is one of the best defenders in Europe, and was also guarding him. And also, there might be 4-5 players in the entire NBA that play defense. So I’m not sure what your point is. Then again, you have never actually had one.

Kinguy11ParticipantHey, just wondering. Has this guy even expresed his desire to go into the NBA?

European BallerParticipantYes. He is a free agent after this year, which is automatic draft year and he scheduled his contract that way. Olympiacos has been trying to sign him to an extension since the summer and he has refused so far. Spartak Saint Petersburg also offered him a big contract and he refused it.
Because he wants to be a free agent when his draft summer comes up.
Nikos Pappas, Kostas Papanikolaou, and Sloukas have all said they would like to play in the NBA because they are very sick of Americans saying that no Greek born player can play in the NBA, even though many are easily good enough. So they have all said they would like to get drafted and play there to shut all the Americans up that keep saying that trash.
Also, for Sloukas it is an extra motivation because he is idol is Vassilis Spanoulis and he said he really would like to prove Greeks can play in the NBA to prove that what Jeff van Gundy did to Spanoulis in the NBA was wrong. He would like to do this for Spanoulis, since he is his childhood hero.

JoeWolf1Haha, you’re hilarious, man. They are sick of Americans saying no Greek born player can play in the NBA? No one in America says that. Antonis Fotsis was Greek born, played in the NBA one year and did alright, but then he went back to Euroleague. He could have played longer, he just didn’t want to.

Scottoant93ParticipantVassilis Spanoulis was then traded to the spurs which he then requested to be waived due to family issues. If that was an excuse because of the rockets situation thens thats poor to say the least especially considering the spurs have transformed internationals into vaulable players. If he stuck around ge might have done something 2-3 years is short never known what he could have become. Anyway do you have a source where you have these quotes your throwing around because if your making these up and just going off your biased opinion of what you think of americans.
Btw let me throw this out there im italian born in italy getting deported out of the usa because they denied my visa, and i hold no grudges or hate towards america so whats your f@ckin excuse for being so ignorant about other parts of the world other then some quotes your pullin out your a$$
