     espn.go.com/nba/insider/story/_/id/14746920/the-best-trades-atlanta-hawks-make-al-horford-jeff-teague-kyle-korver-nba

Basically this is what they propose:
    Boston receives Cousins & Rondo
Atlant receives Kelly Olynyk, James Young, Evan Turner, David Lee and Dallas Mavs 2016 1st rounder (top 7 protected)
Sacramento receives Horford, Teague, Korver and the 2016 Nets (unprotected) 1st round pick.

I don’t see what could possibly motivate Sacramento to do this. Boston would do it, but why on earth would they want Rondo? This really doesn’t make much sense to me and I think people are really underestimating the sort of mindblowing deal it’s going to take to dislodge Boogie from the Kings.

Honestly, I think the Kings should move on from Cousins and I think the Celtics with their collection of picks & players are the perfect trade partner, with no 3rd team necessary to make it happen….especially since Brad Stevens is one of the few coaches I believe might be able to actually win with a team built around Cousins. What do you all think a Cousins to the Celtics deal might look like?

And seriously…I think anything less than offer-they-can’t-refuse territory and it ain’t happening, Just because the  Kings are so stupid everywhere else doesn’t mean they won’t continue to be consistent in this particular stance.
Also remember that the Celtics were purportedly willing to give 4 first rounders for Justice Winslow. Justice Winslow…why would anyone think they wouldn’t be willing to similarly overpay for Cousins (and possibly another vet or two)? This seems like a marriage made in heaven. What’ll it take? What you got?

This works in trade machine and I think this is the sort of ballpark offer required to get Cousins, which makes Boston pretty much the only team with a shot.

Kings receive Kelly Olynyk, Marcus Smart, James Young, Jonas Jerekbo, David Lee, the 2016 Nets (unprotected) first rounder, the 2017 first round pick which would be the higher (unprotected) of either the Nets/Celtics, the 2018 Nets (unprotected) first rounder, and the 2016 & 2017 Sixers (unprotected) 2nd rounders.

Celtics receive Demarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay and Darren Collison

The Kings get a nice trio of young talent to replace the 3 vets and restock their bare-ish draft cupboard with basically the next 3 Nets first rounders (all likely early), including a legit shot at Ben Simmons after frittering their own away, and the next 2 Sixers 2nd rounders (also likely early). They also clear a ton of cap room to give themselves flexibility going forward, and thus position themselves to be competitive when the Warriors aren’t in a different universe, rather than a middling team now (and likely forever).

The Celtics meanwhile instantly become a borderline top-tier contender in the East for the next couple of years at a minimum…assuming anyone can build a legit contender around Cousins that is. But Ainge has been looking to unload those picks in exchange for a star for quite a while now…is there one likely to come along better than Boogie? Cousins, Gay and Collison added to the guys they’d still have on board would be a tough squad under Stevens. They’d still have a not-empty (just not so ridiculously overflowing) draft cupboard as well.

I’m sure some will disagree, but to me it seems to work for both teams. I know the Celts are overpaying, but they seem willing and I think this is in the ballpark of what it would take to get Cousins. Curious to hear other’s thoughts!! Thanks!  🙂

Atlanta gives up their best player(Horford) and their starting Pg for Kelly Olynyk and some scraps, so that Boston walks away with Cousins(The Best C in the NBA)

Seriously who wants James Young and A pick in the late Teens /early 20’s bad enough that they take back Evan Turner and David Lee? Olynyk for Horford is a joke, Hawks say no, then you have Teague for Turner,Young and mid to late 1st rounder via Dallas, if you swap Turner for Crowder maybe the Hawks make the Deal, maybe? Lee is a throwaway sadly, I used to love David Lee…

Honestly the Kings would be best served trading Cousins and Collison to Indiana for Myles Turner and the Hill trio(George, Solomon and Jordan) Draft a player like Rabb or Brice Johnson to play Pf and run out

Rondo, Mclemore, Gay, Rabb and Turner with the Hill street gang off the bench…

Pacers build around the PG13 and DmC duo and hope for a Kobe/Shaq like run, all they’ll need is a few role players and a 6th man to compete out in the East…

If they traded Ellis for some depth that be a start, make a run at Gallinari in free agency to play that X Factor at F…

When Hinkie was in total control of the 76ers he’d absolutely want James Young and a late teens early 20s pick bad enough to take back Evan Turner and David Lee.

No way ATL do this. Thats the best part of a the core that won 60 games. If they trade these guys for unproven mediocre prospects and a salary dump then they need to start firing people pulling the strings.

Horford and Rondo, and Turner, are the risks as free agents in a few months.

Brooklyn pick, Teague and Korver for Cousins.  Brooklyn and Dallas picks, Olynyk and Young for Cousins.  Horford, Teague, Korver for Olynyk and a pick.  If the expected to leave as free agent players are not listed.

Hawks don’t do anything.  Kings might get Simmons or Ingram.  Celtics move a third of their team for Cousins, and get Rondo who may not fit with Smart, Thomas, Rozier.

Kings get a fresh start, but Atlanta doesn’t need to even be involved.  It is really Nets pick for Cousins.

Sorry celtics fans…if you want an all-star big, you either have to include Crowder or the Nets pick…get over it.

I just wouldn’t deplete the Celtics roster to get DMC. The team won’t be the same if we trade Smart and Crowder. I wanna see where this Nets pick lands.

If the Celtics are that desperate to cash in for a big, they should bite the bullet and trade the unprotected Nets pick for Hassan Whiteside (he’s only on $900K, would be easy to match salary). They will run the risk of trading what could be a top 3 pick, but outside of Simmons and Ingram, is there a better prospect or immediate fit than Whiteside?

It looks like an overpay (because the Heat are looking to sell considering his contract status) but if the Nets pick doesn’t land in the top 3, I think Boston would be happy with this. If they did it now, you never know, they could surprise their way through the East. Miami, again, would be very happy to sell at this point I believe. They have made no secret that Whiteside is on the outer, sending him home from the recent road trip. If the draft pick doesn’t really fit with the plans of the Heat team trying to win now, then I’m sure they’ll have no shortage of suitors for it.

The package would have to start with the Nets 2016 pick. I would expect the Kings would also want either the C’s 2017 pick with swap rights (probably prefered) or the Nets 2018 pick. The C’s would probably have to include another first rounder (Dallas’s 2016 pick) as well. I am guessing two of the C’s 2016 second round picks are also part of the deal. In terms of players, I think it is a David Lee for Cousins swap with possibly one prospect (Young, Rozier, or Hunter) added to the mix.

If the Kings deal Cousins, they are going into complete rebuild mode, so they will prefer picks (Keep in mind Chicago gets their pick in 2016 or 2017 if it is ouside the top 10). Now, if I am the C’s, I don’t do this deal. I am fine with giving up the 2016 Nets pick for him (that has to happen for the deal to work), it is all the other goodies combined that make the price too high.
