druneave3ParticipantJust wow. My dad just had a Redd Foxx moment falling over when I told him the news. Like many people he was a big fan of Embiid and hoping he would be the next great big man. To now mention him and the same bone that ended Ming’s career, so sad. On a lighter note…..

JCliff24ParticipantAnd here I was calling smokescreen so Cleveland could trade and get him at 3. Poor kid! Hope he has a speedy recovery. Going to be very interesting if a near playoff team grabs him and he ends up being as good as advertised.

vulture711ParticipantGonna make things very interesting. I’m not an expert on anything but stress fractures in his back and foot have to be concerning. This isn’t after a grueling NBA season – its 1/2 a college season and workouts. He’s sounding like Elijah Price (Samuel L Jackson) in Unbreakable
Puts Exum in the Top 3 mix

MopgrassParticipantThis wrecks most of our mocks. This thing is getting unpredictable. Frankly, I love it. Not the injury part, but there is no shortage of drama and I can’t imagine a more interesting draft.

HuskyWithATarHeelParticipantI hope he fully recovers and becomes what we anticipate but this draft just got a whole lot crazy! How does this affect his stock?

Tim49461ParticipantStress fractures in the foot are very common amongst runners. Typically sidelines for a little bit but most if not all recovery fully. Should not be a long term issue at all.

jtthebrickParticipantRunners aren’t 7 feet. There is a reason that back, leg, and foot injuries are more common amongst the tall.

nill650ParticipantThis is not career ending for a kid under 20 yrs of age.
Sounds like it was "discovered by cleveland cavs docters" so could have been there for awhile.
Some of these fractures are nothing to be concerned about, esp with top docs doing surgery.
However It should lower his stock enough until he proves his value by playing an entire nba season.
I think His floor in this draft is to boston at 6 if another team doesnt before that.
Unless the surgery is unsuccesfull. at which point your not going to hear much from embiids camp at all until after the draft and no news could drop him to post lottery value but he won’t fall past pheonix at 14 imo. pleanty of picks to risk.

Moon RiverParticipantI am glad he is having surgery right away so we can get a good sense of the recovery time for him. He is obviously talented and a bad team like the Bucks, could possibly roll the dice with him, be bad again this year and have another top pick next year. Not the ideal rebuilding plan, but I have seen worse (Knicks).

theballerwayParticipantIf they still wanted one of wings to drop to them they are now in a tough spot. They will surely have to trade up now, no?
