Elie Okobo has agreed to a four-year, $6 million deal with the Suns.

The Suns just renounced their rights to Elfrid Payton and pushed Tyler Ulis’ salary guarantee date back to June 30, which hints they might be toying with the idea of giving major minutes to Okobo his rookie season.

The Suns will renounce the rights to Elfrid Payton and Alex Len, according to Scott Bordow of the Arizona Republic.

The Suns won’t be able to make this official until July, but will make them free agents. Pheonix drafting DeAndre Ayton secured Len’s fate, who was playing on a qualifying offer. Payton only shot 43.5 percent from the field and 20 percent from deep during his time with the Suns. Expect both of these guys to find landing spots with other teams before the 2018-19 season tips off.

I expect the Suns to run a no-PG lineup this season. I see them starting Ayton, Bender/Chriss, JJ, Bridges then Booker while having Knight and/or Warren eating up the minutes of Chriss and Bender in the 4th quarter just like how GSW does it when Iggy gets Bogut’s 4th quarter minutes.

I don’t see Okobo getting big minutes just yet. Maybe they give him 10-15 minutes a night similar to how the Hawks groomed Shcroeder behind Jeff Teague slowly.

The Thunder should offer Len something since they still have no backup center and didn’t address this in the draft. Will be interesting to see where Payton ends up as well.

The Suns signed Emmett Naar to their summer league roster too.

He was second in the NCAA in assists behind Trae Young.

I’m Australian, so I’m probably biased, but he’s a really intelligent, steady playmaker that rarely turns the ball over. Good three-point shooter too. I think he could follow in the footsteps of Matthew Dellevadova as an unsigned Australian point guard out of St Mary’s that makes an NBA roster.

What do you guys think of his chances?

Negatives are the usual ones for a smallish white point guard- athletecism, quickness, height, length.
