I think ed davis is a better taller version of craig smith. he has a knack for scoring in traffic just like craig and always being in the right spot at the right time like him. However, he is more athletic and taller than him which gives him much more potential. what do u think?

He might be taller but he isnt bigger. Smith is so huge that he has an advantage. He can move as good or better than most post people and he is wider than them too. Craig is so freaking strong that nobody is able to do anything with him. IMO, they really dont have much in common other than their position.

    I see what he’s saying,
he saying that Ed “too tall” davis has a nose 4 the ball

I have scouted Ed before and I think he has a special knack for hustling down the ball,

and potential is not really a good word, it means you’re not there yet
but in this draft class Ed is right up there with the other PFs

I guess that is what the scouts are saying, physically he reminds me of UNC alum James
Worthy but taller and so he wont play the SF position

but my scouting says Sam Perkins, MAYBE one day,

hopefully bcuz the jumpshot isnt there yet

but then again I am not the GM or “expert” scout so I dont know,

my expert scout sources tell me he should be better than Larue Maartin though

i think he will be drafted too high and it will take him a few years to get his body right just so he can get time off the bench as a hustle player. I dont really see the difference between him and Jordan Hill right now…both were overrated

Davis’ 22 points against Michigan State was impressive, but his 6 rebounds are still a reminder he needs to gain some weight. He has improved a lot this year, but I think it will take a late season UNC run with him playing great for him to go top 5. Right now he reminds me a little of Drew Gooden his sophomore year in college, before he added a little more weight and an outside shot to his aresenal.

i kinda like the lamarcus one. not so much the randolph or bender one since both of those guys are/were capable of playing the sf and rdavis is just a pf

He doesnt really remind me of brandon right either because hes way more smoother and doesnt always look awkward with the ball in his hands

smoother?…davis is anything but smooth..all his points are more akward. you dont see percise foot work or great post moves out of him. its always some twisting turning type move

Yea, I think Brandan Wright is the best comparison to Ed Davis. They did give MSU the work last night I must say..they completely outplayed MSU. Ed Davis (and the rest of the team) was very good last night, but I still don’t see him as the type you pick in the top 5…he is probably lottery worthy though.

Brandon Wright doesn’t have the baby hookshot or the semi-mid range Davis has. If I recall, a majority of Wright’s points with UNC came from dunks and putbacks. He also doesn’t have the knack to block shots like Davis.

Also, if there’s anyone to compare Anthony Randolph to, it’s John Henson. Henson had 4 ridiculously sick blocks last night, he was guarding MSU’s guards and they were very reluctant to match up and shoot against him.

???..do you remeber brendon wright?..he had a nice lil semi midrange and averaged about 2 blks a game and im sure he would be blking the same amount of blks a gameas davis or more if he would have stayed another year

Yea, Brandan Wright’s only real move is his baby hook shot, don’t know what your talking about…he also was a good shot-blocker in college…and his mid-range is not very much better or worse than Davis’…I don’t think you remember Wright very well, or you’ve never watched him at all..

brandon wright is different player than ed davis. davis has a wide frame and wright is a stick. how could they be the same player. i think u guys are confusing henson and davis. davis is not lanky.

I dont either, Wright and Ed Davis are alot closer in terms of their frames than Craig Smith. And whether you want to believe is or not, Davis’ frame is NOT “big” as you said, and Davis eerily simliar in terms of physical tools and skills to Wright. A whole lot more comparable to him than Craig Smith…..

I like joewolf’s comparison on Ed Davis… I think he is more of a Drew Gooden in terms of skill set… minus that solid midrange game…

i’m just worrying what else ppl wants? they picked him as #2 in preseason and thought he did better????

after slow start he has 17/11/2 in last 4games what is pretty dominant as for a team like UNC.
and his stats upping after every game now he has JUST 25.4mpg and even his offense looks very good with 13.9ppg 1.5apg and his defense with 9.4rpg 2.4bpg looks something like the best out of the class..
if we would do this: Ed’s PT x 1 1/3 there would be 18.5ppg 12.5rpg 2apg and 3.2bpg!! Yes he mights not be the guy who was called to compete with Wall but he is really good

right now d.thompson is better especially when you add that equation to his stats. but davis is good. i still like zeller more potentially. unc has a nice group of players. i think they have a chance to be champs next year and possibly this year

PLEASE don’t compare Wright to Davis. They have similar physical tools (height, length, agility, athleticism, etc…) and that is where I draw the line. Wright was soft on the glass and on defense, Davis is anything but.

“I really, REALLY, hate that Brandon Wright comparison. Wright isn’t the rebounder Davis is.

In 27.7 minutes in college, Wright averaged 6.2 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. (Freshman year)
In 18.8 minutes in college, Davis averaged 6.6 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game. (Freshman year)
In 27.9 minutes in college, Davis averages 9.9 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game. (Sophomore year)

Wright doesn’t even compare to Davis when it comes to activity level. Their offensive games are different too. I see how their physical profiles are similar, and how they played for the same school and all, but I REALLY don’t like that comparison.”
