TRC1991ParticipantHere is my pre-season NCAA all-american teams for 2012
1st team
G- John Jenkins, Vanderbilt 6’4” 215, JR.
Why? This sharp-shooter averaged 19.5 ppg, 3 rpg, and shot 41% from 3 last year as he lead his Commodore squad to a 5-seed in the tournament this year.
G- Ashton Gibbs, Pittsburgh 6’2” 190, SR.
Why? The do-it-all combo guard averaged a team-leading 16.8 ppg for the 28-game winning, #1 seeded Pitt Panthers.
C- Jared Sullinger, Ohio State 6’9” 280, SO.
Why? This beast in the post averaged 17 and 10 for the nation’s best squad last year. He shocked the world by choosing to return for his 2nd season in Columbus.
F- Perry Jones, Baylor 6’11” 235, SO.
Why? Jones has the length, shot-blocking ability, and potential to play both forward spots for the Bears. This frosh averaged 14 and 7 while shooting 55% from the field last year.
F- Harrison Barnes, UNC 6’8” 215, SO.
Why? Barnes got a lot better towards the end of the season scoring more than 16 points in his last 11 games. Expect significant improvement from his 15 and 5.5 last year.
2nd team
G- Austin Rivers, Duke 6’4” 189 FR.
Why? Rivers has the take-over ability to guide this Blue Devils team to the final 4. Expect serious ouput from this big-time combo guard.
G- Jordan Taylor, Wisconsin 6’1” 195 SR.
Why? Taylor could better his already impressive numbers from his junior year where he posted 18, 4, and 4 for the 4-seeded Badger squad. He will be looked to dominate with the loss of Leuer.
C- Tyler Zeller, UNC 7’0” 250 SR.
Why? The much-improved Zeller has a bevy of post-moves and skills in the paint. Expect dominant results from this big-time producer.
F- Anthony Davis, Kentucky 6’9” 210 FR.
Why? Davis could be the best freshman in the country and has the capability to put up Durant/Beasley numbers in his 1st year
F- Khris Middleton, Texas A&M 6’7” 215 JR.
Why? Middleton is sick! Tons of potential, he just needs 1 more year of college before he makes the jump to the next level where I think he will excel due to the smoothness of his game.
3rd team
G- Jeremy Lamb, UCONN 6’5” 185 SO.
Why? Lamb has serious length as evident by his 7’4” wingspan. Fans may be seeing the 2nd coming of Rip Hamilton in Storrs this year.
G- William Buford, Ohio State 6’5” 205 SR.
Why? Is this the year that Buford puts it ALL together and makes a case for himself as NPOY? I think it might.
C- Festus Ezeli, Vanderbilt 6’11” 255 SR.
Why? Ezeli is a probable 2012 lottery-pick with his defensive skills. Looks a lot like a young Samuel Dalembert. Averaged 12, 6 and 2.6 bpg last year
F- Thomas Robinson, Kansas 6’9” 237 JR.
Why? Robinson will be the go-to guy this year for a young and rebuilding Jayhawks squad
F- Reeves Nelson, UCLA 6’8” 235 JR.
Why? Nelson is a man in the paint and has a knack for scoring while enduring contact. Put up 14 and 9 last year for the bruins
Honorable Mention:
F- JaMychal Green, Alabama
G- Tim Hardaway Jr., Michigan
F-Michael Gilchrist, Kentucky
G- Kenny Boynton, Florida
G- Marquis Teague, Kentucky
F- John Henson, UNC
F/C-Alex Oriakhi, UCONN
G/F-Will Witherspoon, Memphis
G- Myck Kabongo, Texas
G- Darrius Johnson-Odom, Marquette
G- Peyton Siva, Louisville
F- Kris Joseph, Syracuse
G- Doron Lamb, Kentucky
G- Tu Holloway, Xavier
F- Yancy Gates, Cincinnati

canesboy6ParticipantI think people are expecting too much from him. He is still an Upside guy, not quite an immediate impact All American type IMO. Huge potential and he is good right now but I dont think he is an All American yet. He is definately on my watch list, I would by no means be shocked, but I tend to err on the side of caution with freshman AA. If nothing else, use the preseason accolades as a way to show respect to the veterans who have earned it, and then give post season credit to whoever earns it.
Theres a million guys on my watch list but the 2 sleepers I really see blowing up next year are Sidney and Stoglin from Maryland.

mikeyvthedonParticipantYour list ability has been solid as of late. This was a good one, though I feel Ashton Gibbs may indeed stay in the draft and that Perry Jones will more than likely not make the First Team due to not only his suspension, but more than likely a share of wealth with his Baylor counterparts. I believe Quincy Miller may indeed be the money player on that team. Also, while I am very high on Anthony Davis and could see him as being a first or second team All-American, he more than likely will not have the same eye popping numbers as KD and B-Easy.
One minor quibble I have, and this is not at all a fault of yours, is making it the two guards, two forwards and one center bit. The traditional Center in college basketball has taken a major turn, and the biggest impact players usually are guards and wings. So, in having a Festus Ezeli on the team, you are probably leaving off a much more deserving player. I think that college basketball has caught this, and tend to choose the 5 best players out there rather than go by rigid position classifications.
My early predicts would be:
First Team
C-Jared Sullinger (POY), Ohio State
F-Harrison Barnes, North Carolina
G-Jeremy Lamb, UCONN
G-Austin Rivers, Duke
G-Jordan Taylor, Wisconsin
Second Team
C-Tyler Zeller, North Carolina
F-Anthony Davis, Kentucky
F-Thomas Robinson, Kansas
G-William Buford, Ohio State
G-John Jenkins, Vanderbilt
Third Team
F-Quincy Miller, Baylor
F-Kris Joseph, Syracuse
F-Draymond Green, Michigan State
G-Maalik Wayns, Villanova
G-Kendall Marshall, North Carolina
Sleepers Not Previously Mentioned:
G-Jeremy Green, Stanford
G- Bradley Beal, Florida (He is the real deal, definitely could turn into their main scoring option)
G-Will Barton, Memphis
G-Allen Crabbe, Cal
G-Reggie Jackson, Boston College (If he returns)
G-Scoop Jardine, Syracuse
G-Jason Clark, Georgetown
F-LeBryan Nash, Oklahoma State
F-Doug McDermott, Creighton (He is real, definitely one to watch)
F-Christian Watford, Indiana
F-Brandon Davies, BYU (Who might be coming back to the team, lol)
F-Drew Gordon, New Mexico
F-Arsalan Kazemi, Rice
F-Keith Clanton, UCF
F-Robbie Hummel, Purdue
F-Willie Reed, Kansas State
F- Mason Plumlee, Duke
C-Ralph Sampson III, Minnesota
