OhCanada-ParticipantThis is great news for any Raptors fan! I am so excited now that Toronto has a real Head Coach and not just another media gimmick. I remember watching the Lakers game and seeing an assistant coach bouncing up and down from the sidelines actively screaming orders to his players who were very responsive to those orders. I googled Dallas Mavericks assistant coaches and found out this was the guy barking orders and sometimes it looked like he was dominating the show. I never knew he would instantly become available! Casey is known for defense plain and simple. Those great zone defenses Dallas was setting can be credited to him.Cant wait for the next season whenever that is.

PulseGlazerParticipantThis should be wildly interesting. Casey is a great defensive coach, but Toronto not only has a poor defense, but a ton of poor defensive players. Let’s see what he can do!
NOW I’m intrigued by those Bogut trades discussed earlier.

Scottoant93Participantnot a raps fan but I like this hire for them, now imagine if Bargs(rebound too) and Derozen can play defense, that will be his main goal

OhCanada-ParticipantDerozan can play defense, weve seen it. I think he has that young guys mentallity that he doesnt have to, I think that stems off from having your two highest paid players not play any defense. I would like to see them boot Bargnani and adopt a defensive mentallity to the tee. No defense, no minutes and at the end of the day no minutes means no money! Then we will see how well these guys can defend.

Scottoant93Participantidk ive seens a few raps games, and players blew right past dd sometimes, but you may be right with the young player mentality, Bargs most likely wont be there next season but if he is, its nice to see him having a good coach for a change, sam mitchell was close but he even admits he made mistakes while coaching him, so if hes still around Casey should be a good one for him

Tha_PrinceParticipantThis is good news in Raptorland, excited to see Casey do his thing. Hopefully we can bring in some talent with a little bit more of a defensive oriented style of play.
It’ll be interesting to see who are Assistant’s will be because I read from Doug Smiths’ blog that he thinks most of the aren’t coming back ( Scott Roth interviewing for the Lakers).

NashyMingParticipantI wasn’t too high on Casey because of his inconsistant rotation with the Twolves (although it might have more to do with the roster) and apparent poor relationship with his players (I haven’t really heard of any Twolves players saying good things about him as a head coach).
Anyway, it seems he’s a pretty good defensive coach and hopefully if he improves on his people skills, he would be a very good coach.

PulseGlazerParticipantHis Wolves were .500 with him and worst in the league without. Good enough difference for me.

OhCanada-ParticipantI hope they give Bargnani a shot. It will be hard for Andrea to find a better situation to succeed in the NBA, and hard for Toronto to recieve talent for him other then a mid-1st and filler. The playing time is going to be traded off for defensive effort, no effort, no floor time. Bargani has proved he can be an average defender, as long as he is consistantly average and not a complete let down for the team the return from his offense is well worth keeping him. Especially f the return for trading him is Biyambo…
