JNixonParticipantPlayers that Get No Love But Will Shock This Season:
Dominique Jones (USF): He may be the most all-around gifted wing player in the nation, yet no one talks about him. Maybe because he plays for the Cellar-Dweller that is South Florida, maybe its because he doesnt play above the rim alot. But if you watch him play (I saw him play twice last year, and he is a monster…) you will be impressed and wonder why he doesnt get national mention. I cant think of one thing he’s not strong at. He’s just a little undersized at 6’4″, but he does have length as well.
Wesley Witherspoon (Memphis): I remember watching him play in HS when he played for the Georgia Stars (AAU squad), and he is very skinny and ackward looking, but he has ridiculous length and quickness. He is a good ball handler and passer, just needs to improve his shot and get stronger to finish at the rim, but defense is his main weapon right now. I think he has the potential to be a top 5 defender in the NBA when he declares, and the ability to defend the 1-3 positions with no problems. He’s poised for a breakout year I believe, after what can only be called a “learning experience” of a freshman year.
Jeremy Hazell (Seton Hall)- He is an explosive scorer/shooter, and is as confident as they come. Seton Hall is a sleeper team now with their transfers and the return of Eugene Harvey, and Hazell is probably their best player. He needs to work on his D, and handles, and adding strength but he is a great college scorer.
Lawrence Westbrook (Minnesota)- I think he is not an NBA prospect because of his size and the fact that he rarely looks to pass unless all else fails, but he is a strong player. He drives to the basket and takes you on his back with him. Also a good shooter, especially on spotups. He is one of the better guards in the Big 10, but he rarely if ever gets recognition.
Trevon Hughes (Wisconsin)- I had to start paying him more mind after how he killed Kstate 2 years back in the tourny. He can break you off the bounce, finish in a few creative ways, and he defends like there’s no tomorrow. He might be the most valuable Badger player 3 years in a row.
Devan Downey (South Carolina)- He is as quick as any PG in the Southeastern part of the US. He is a terror in transition and also a pretty good shooter. Just doesnt have alot of height, which is a hindrance for the NBA.
Ish Smith (Wake Forest)- Even though he’s erratic, and may have been a reason Wake played so bad down the stretch last year, I love his game. He is super explosive and also a good passer. But he’s undersized and in need of a jumper, limiting him from the NBA.
LaceDarius Dunn (Baylor)- He has a weird looking shot, but it works and he plays fearless. Also a decent defender. But he is athletic and quick enough?
You can name a few you feel that I failed to mention…

D HampParticipantWesley Johnson should be pretty good this year. According to this Website, he’s the top transfer in the nation.
Dhamp…the greatest basketball mind in the world. Next to Hubie Brown anyway.

jeff416ParticipantI like Witherspoon alot but he wont be the go to guy for Memphis there go to guy will be Elliot Williams and Williams will probably win MVP for CUSA. But I expect Witherspoon to have a big year and he might lead Memphis in assist hes a point-forward and is super athletic for his height. Hes put on alot of muscle this offseason and hes even grown a inch since last year. Hes very versatile and will probably play four positions for Memphis this year I expect him to have a big year.

QHaynes20Marcus Ginyard. I know him and he will be a steal in the 2nd round as a defender.

JNixonParticipantGinyard is a classic team player. He plays whatever position UNC needs him to. I like him, even though he’s not a true NBA prospect.
