JNixonParticipantI am a big Dominique Jones guy. I like him alot and think he can be a Rodney Stuckey type of player, but hopefully his NBA coach doesn’t trade a vet PG in hopes that he can play the PG spot when he’s obviously more effective at the SG, as the Pistons have done. I think he’ll be a late 1st round pick and I think he can be at worst a scorer off the bench.
Landesburg is the prototypical role player. He defends, can create off the dribble, score from mid-range andcan get to the basket sometimes more because of good fundamentals and handles. He seems like he can be a Courtney Lee type player. He’s at best a late 1st rounder, and at worst an early 2nd rounder. The way he ended his season (ineligibility) didn’t help his stock any at all.
Any thoughts about them and their draft positions as of now??

knicksfan7ParticipantWait Dominique Jones declared??? please show a link. I don’t think Landesburg gets drafted because of his academic ineligibility. It would not surprise me in the least.

midwestbbscoutParticipantthat dude is a BEAST….I voted for Big East POY for a Big East site and I was THIS close to picking Jones but I skirted and picked Reynolds instead…..After he screwed my brackets I definitely want to change my vote now……

knicksfan7ParticipantJones nothing is official (though I think he stay in the draft).
Landesburg, should have worked out his academic problems and stayed at UVA.

JNixonParticipantI would’ve voted for Jones if I were you. I said all season long that Jones was the most valuable player to his team in the Big East.

knicksfan7ParticipantTo me it was between Reynolds and Jones, but Johnson getting it was absurd because Rautins is more of an asset to that team than Johnson. Though, I think the voters didn’t want to give it to someone from USF since they have never had anyone good before. I know it sounds odd, but don’t underestimate that.

QUINCEYLandesburg-high second round at best ..mid range 2nd -late at worst. i think alot will depend on his workouts

Mr.Knick 32ParticipantDominique Jones would be a late 1st- early 2nd.
Landesberg to me? 2nd round. I would love for him to be there for NY’s spot. I think he could be a good starter.

knicksfan7ParticipantKnicksboy every post is about a new player mentioned looking great for the knicks. Jimmer, Landesburg, Scottie Reynolds at one point, list goes on. Dominique Jones is going between 20-30, not 2nd round or else he’ll be back his senior year. I will be somewhat surprised if Landesburg gets drafted, as quincey said it will depend on his workouts, if they are average he won’t get drafted.

JNixonParticipantLandesburg also has a Israel passport in his back pocket, so that could come in handy down the road.

QUINCEYlol..you’ve noticed that too..but hes not wrong. just about any player looks great for them because they dont have much
0- Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 3:18pm #269046
knicksfan7ParticipantQuincey I know the knicks don’t have anything, but as a knicks fan you don’t see me saying that. Knicksboy is being very erractic, he’s knows his stuff with basketball just not every player is a fit. You can like every player some more than others but not every player will fit for your team.

JNixonParticipantThey don’t have any picks to get silly with anyway!

the I in winParticipantI like Jones but haven’t seen any of Landesburg.

NashyMingParticipantI am not sure why certain people think academic issues would be enough to make a player drop a lot in the draft. I mean you need the guy to play basketball not studying for an exam, doing some math, or filing your tax. I don’t understand why players’ grades would be that important.
Anyway, I like Sylven Landesberg, and I think he could be a late 1st to mid 2nd depending on how his workout goes. At this point, he’s more likely to be a 2nd round pick though as there would be so many players coming out.

QUINCEYalot of teams probably think that if a player cant keep a easy 2.0 then how can they expect them to handle alot of the other non basketball stuff. learning the plays, knowing how to handle off the court stuff. thats just a guess. iff im picking between 2 guys who are near the same talent then im sure im going with the smarter one
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 5:34pm #269123

JNixonParticipantThere is a difference between schoolwork and a basketball playbook. He’s probably been playing ball all his life so I’d be shocked if he couldn’t understand plays, and he’s never come off as a low basketball IQ player, so his school grades wouldn’t make a big difference, if at all.

QUINCEYi guess it does to the owners if they bring it up
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 5:49pm #269136
QUINCEYin the end it doesnt matter what we as fans think as far as beinbg drafted its what the guys drafting them think
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 5:50pm #269137

JNixonParticipantWhat owner has brought it up though?
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 5:52pm #269138
QUINCEYsome of the websites wont say… they just say ” a nba owner told us”…either draftexpress or hoopsworld. and every year during the draft right before the draft you hear how players drop for certain classroom or maturity issues
0 - Posted on: Tue, 03/23/2010 - 7:08pm #269193

midwestbbscoutParticipanthe will get drafted he probably just would be better off if he stayed….I like him in the second round actually……he’s probably a first round talent….
