Demarcus NelsonParticipantBoth are slashers with Young a better a shooter both have long skinny arms that could be a major factor on the defensive end. Both will dunk on you as well. Kittles had a great career until his knee injury before that he was a quite 17 points a night that could quietly go for 30 on you. I can see the same for Young who I perfict falls into the 20s to a playoff team and do the same thing Kittles did in Jersey who he had the top 5 PG of all time ( Kidd) what you guys think?

MisterMordenParticipantNo. James Young reminds me of Nick Young.

ibe12ParticipantI agree. When I see James Young I definitely see another Nick Young, hopefully without the annoying Swaggy P nonsense.

Magic JordanParticipantAnd without the ability to put the ball in the basket like Nick Young. From what I saw of James Young he is a shooter who cannot shoot… a lazy defender, an above average athlete. I get that he was very highly regarded before the season started…. but he didn’t show me much at Kentucky except that he could be extremely over rated. A high volume scorer who doesn’t score could be a problem.
He is very young so he can still figure it out, but I really don’t see the comparisons.

Captain LParticipantI see Young as more of a shooter than Kittles, Kittles was more of a slasher, Exum actually reminds me more of Kittles than Young does, Exum has more potential but both are slashers first, shooters second. Both have similar bodies, hopefully Exum will avoid the injuries.

JoeWolf1Not at all. Kittles had a much better handle and worked as a secondary distributer both in college and the NBA. I just don’t see James Young developing that way. As a 6’7” kid who’s already 215 lbs after his freshman season will probably end up a big, physical 225 – 230 lb wingman after a few years in an NBA weight room…I’d be surprised if Kittles played a game over 190, even later in his career.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantKittles was a better shooter. He led all rookies in 3pt made in 96-97… And held the record (158) until Rudy Fernandez broke it in 2009. He also shot 40% 3pt in the year 00-01.

For_Never_EverParticipantPeople are too hard on James Young saying he can’t shoot because his numbers don’t show it. He has pefect form and a quick release on his shot. Everyone was saying this about Bradly Beal and look at him in the NBA now, he can can shoot the ball. I see promise in James Young being an OK ball handler. The thing is his defense is concerning to me, and I don’t know he’ll smarten up in that area to at least become a solid team defender.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantWhat I remember is people comparing Bradley Beal to Ray Allen, one of the sweetest strokes in the game. I must have missed something. BTW Kittles shot 35-40% from three consistently throughout his career. 11 years. He led the Nets in 3pt made and percentages normally as well.

For_Never_EverParticipantThis site had him compared to Ray Allen. I think the majority us knew better and it was brought up a lot that the comparison is off.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantFair enough. My point is Kerry Kittles was a consistent 3pt shooter. Bradley Beal is not comparable to Ray Allen, but he is better in some ways. Beal is clutch and his jumper is picturesque. If I remember correctly, Beal’s jumper was sweet in college, too. Maybe you never saw him play.

For_Never_EverParticipantThat was my point they have perfect form and shot, but did not put up certain stats that showed they are great shooter during college. Yeah, I been knowing Beal can’t be compared to Ray. Seemed like you thought other wise or just figured that out. BTW, I never said anything about Kittles.

Scrooge McDuckParticipantMy bad man, I misread your original post. I get what you’re saying now. I agree. James Young does have nice form on his shot. I don’t see him developing his all around game to the point of being a quality starter in the league.

joecheck88ParticipantI don’t get the Nick Young comparisons for James Young. Nick is an ISO guy. James doesn’t have that ability and never showed that ability to break his man down and get to the rim. From what I saw of James is he hovers around the perimeter and occasionally will cut without the ball. He’s not great with the ball. He’s lazy on defense. He’s got a long way to go to be a productive player. He’s more like CJ Miles to me. Yes he could be better but he’s got a lot of work to do. I’m not a huge fan like many seem to be. Worth the risk late teens on, sure but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was just average.
