He would have to have a really good year to go 1st but I dont think he will. He has a good shot and is very strong but he is not very athletic I think he can go lottery but he will have to put up ridiculous numbers to go first.

Yea it would take a magical season for him to go 1st. He doesnt have the upside to warrant the 1st pick.

Xavier Henry is a very talented player, but I don’t think he is going to have that big of a freshman season at KU. Yes, he will be a valuable contributer to an elite college basketball team, but he isn’t going to be the focal point of the offense. I think a good season could put him top 15, but number one, that seems pretty far off. Oh yeah, and when was the last time a shooting guard went #1? It’s been a long time, I can’t even remember off the top of my head so I bed it was at least in the 80’s

The last time a SG was taken #1 was Allen Iverson in 1996.

Ivo was always a scoring point guard so he definitely doesn’t count..Henry is nice but he does lack the athleticism and upside to be considered a number one…if I were to compare him I think a poor man’s Harden is an adequate comparison

Why do X needs to be the first pick in that mock draft when everyone on this earth knows that John Wall and Derrick Favors should be in that spot? Don’t get me wrong, I love X but he’s not a top 2 pick for me… It’s going to take a miracle if he goes number one… Hell, I would even bet my own house if he goes number one… What a silly mock draft! Why go there when we have NBADraft.net^^?

actually fizer you need to add greg monroe to that list of wall and favors..as well as a ? for the one player who always comes out of nowhere or was thought to just be a top 5-10 pick..anyway no way in hell henry is the first pick

I think you all are doubting Xavier to much…he’s quite talents
he’s got a great jumper, and athletics…although he might not be the fastest person in the world he’s still good
now 1st…i don’t know about that since kansas is loaded and i don’t think he’ll get the numbers he’ll need to go 1
but i could easily see him in the lottery…he’s got all the right good…similar to derozan

yeah he could go lotto..i dont think most are doubting that..his jumper is good..pretty slow first step and handles are suspect but all that will get better im sure i see top 20 if he comes out after this year. very strong year and there are a number of guys i would take ahead of him. just my opinion

Iverson plays Sg now, but he was a point guard when he got drafted. Thats what he played in college and his fist couple years in the league. But still that was 14 years ago, so even if you count that its not a common occurance. Mark Agguire was picked 1st in 1981 he was a shooting guard. So thats 1 for sure picked #1 in the past 28 years and one point guard who moved to shooting guard later in his career. Harrison Barnes I think has the potential to be a #1 pick shooting guard, but if an up and coming big man blows up at the same time I’d put money on the big man getting taken before him despite Barnes’ talent.

loool Xavier Henry is my favourite player in the draft…..but i don’t see him top 5. he can force 10 with a good year, but no matter what happens John wall will be the 1st pick next year. Im also pretty sure Donatas Motiejunas won’t fall that low.

I love Xavier… I read his Basketball Diary in SLAM and loved it… He is definitely a stud waiting to happen and if people say he’s going to be a lottery pick, then I agree 100% that he has a big chance to be in the top 10 or top 14… But as far as him being a top 2 pick, getting ahead of guys like John Wall, Derrick Favors, Greg Monroe, Donatas and Cole… That is a different story…

john wall being the number one isnt a sure thing no matter how much people may want it too be..favors and greg could easily end up getting picked over him..and thats not even taking in account a team with a established pg getting the number one pick. personally i think he will have a ok year..not jumper and unlike rose he cant just over power players on the way to the hole. sill think he will be a good pro though

Greg Monroe will never be the 1st pick, esp. over John Wall. He has potential, but the no.1 pick should be a 1st option for his team. I dont see Monroe as a 1st option ever in the NBA. And on top of that, he is a poor rebounder and defender.

number one pick is not always the first option for the team..you make no sense..if a team already has a first option then the number one pick wont be a first option…rose wasnt the first option, blake wont be the first option…and no one knows if wall will be considering he has dominated against highschool basketball players and hasnt been proven against better comp..on top of him being a 5th year senior and in his tru senior year wasnt even a top 15 player and got his lunch ate up by brandon jennings 3 different times….and guess what…alonzo morning averaged .8 rebounds more as a freshman then monroe..mutombo averaged 3.3 reb as a freshman..david robinson..4.4 rebounds as a freshman..pat ewing 1 more rebounds…you see the trend..as freshman most of the big men dont rebound at a great rate..yet each one in there second year jump to double figures or close too it which im pretty sure monroe will..also i watched 90percent of gtowns game and monroe played pretty good defense and no one had a outstanding game against him was blair and luke hrangody and both of them had good games against just about everyone..take in the fact that he was only a freshman and players make big jumps from there freshman to sophmore years

All of those players you named will be 1st options on their teams in the future maybe Wall, and he might still be the most important player on the team he gets picked by’s roster. And David Robinson, Dikembe Mutumbo, David Robinson and Patrick Ewing had more physical ability than Monroe has. They also were better athletes and they all played with a chip on their shoulders in college and in the NBA. Greg Monroe, cant say the same. Those were very misleading stats as well, who knows how many minutes the players you named played a game. I do know Monroe player 30 mins, so he got plenty of clock. Mutmbo probably played limited as a frshman, I can only imagine how raw he was back then. And everyone you named were 1st option at some point of their careers, except Mutumbo. Greg Monroe wont be a 1st option, and the #1 pick has always been expected to be the #1 option. The only guy I can think of that wasnt expected to be a #1 option as the 1st pick is Kenyon Martin. So I dont see how Im not “making any since”

nope they all actually played the same or mor emin then monroe..and i watched dikebi..he was alot less agressive then the dikimbe you see today..same wit david robinson..those are just the big men i named..there are many more who ended up being good nba rebounders and 90 percent of them start college as a frehman averageing in the 5-7 reb per game range…most freshman dont come into college and are great rebounders in there first year and greg is considered a first option by scouts just not by you..wall is all hype right now with no proof to back it up against legit comp( unless you count other highschool kids whos hes a year or more older then) im not like most bandwagon jumpers i wait till a player proves against better comp before saying they ARE gonna be this or that. players atre picked number one to be eventual lead guys on there team..no one knows if they will or not thats why most lead guys on there teams today werent number one picks in the draft

that always kills me how every year some highschool is said to be a cant miss number one pick by the fans( us at scouting services say possibly never definate and those that do shouldnt be in this line of work unless its a cant miss prospect) but its pretty much always the fans that read what we write then take it too another level. most only read the positives but forget about the negitives of a layer. fans also tend to have short term memory and after a player plays one year in the nba or gets drafted the next player in line in highschool is considered to be better then the one who just got to the nba. for example wall and rose..alot of fans think hes gonna be just as good or better, but what most dont realize is walls jumper is actually a lil worst then rose and hes not as stong which means he wont be finishing with ease in college like he did in highschool. he still has very good potenial but hes a tad lazy sometimes on defense and has problems when he’s matched up against a guard who plays solid defense( has major problems against avery bradley and if avery was a point guard would be a better prospect). another thing most fans and some overzelous scouts seem to dismiss is the fct that he played a extra year of highschool. i remeber scouting him as a tru senior and he was the same player he is now for the most part, pretty good quick athletic but not the best in his class. brandon jennings was far and away a better player and i thought that before they even played against each other in aau ( in which it was a one sided brandon jennings beat down in both games). as far as greg monroe im not so sure he is a number one pick. he does have number one pick talent but hes not a big fan of contact and wants to be more of a finesse pf then a banger. quincy is right as far as most big men dont get high rebound numbers in there first year, its there second year when yu know what type of rebounder they are. And monroe is actually a pretty good defender because he moves his feet gets in a good big man defensive stance and has long arms. As far as number on picks there really isn a clear cut one this year. There are a couple players who can lay claim and depending who picks could also be a big factor. if okc picks then i can tell you they wont go with wall, they will either trade it(slight chance) or go with monroe, cole, or favors (depending how he plays this year) as well as ed davis. same with the bucks if they get the pick or some of the other bad teams, and im pretty sure someone is gonna sneak up and be considered. just remeber when highschoolers that are highly ranked comming into college and considered the number one pick, they pretty much can only stay at that level or go down since every scout will be watching them and nit picking at every flaw they have

Greg Monroe, 6-11 freshman center, Georgetown: “Oh, he’s my favorite. For me, it’s him or Griffin as the top picks from college. His upside is off the charts, and he’s probably the most cerebral player in the draft.”

Greg Monroe, Georgetown: He’d be a top-3 pick if he left school, and staying would only hurt his stock, like it did for the former Hoya center Roy Hibbert. That said, the buzz here is he will stay.

NBA Comparison: Chris Webber (late career version)

Shows a good understanding of positioning himself and boxing out on rebounds … Has good hands to catch and secure the ball …
