James Harden is an absolute all star college player. He was on the all american first team but the big question that arose was this…..Will he be a star in the NBA? He has a nice stroke, great passing abilities, and he can finish. Does he have the tools?

Although James Harden is a Pac 10 player of the year and has single handedly rejuvenated ASU’s basketball program, If you have ever really watched him you will notice he is slow to decide and cannot stick around towards the end of the season. Both years at ASU James was no where to be found towards the final games of the season. I think who ever takes is making a big mistake and will get a James Posey at best. For some reason, although he’s good, something about Harden tells me he won’t make it.

In a league full of stars you need that great complementary guy and I think Harden is it. He will be some stars’ Pippen in a way.

As an OKC fan it would be nice to get a player of Harden’s character and play. While Thabeet fits a need a possible Rubio to Washington trade (I know so much trade talk in this draft…gotta love it) may land the sweet shooting guard. On a team like OKC he wont be a star because of the situation he will be in with the KD the Kid and Westbrook. But with his efficient style of play we will be able to help spread the floor to have Kevin work and it wont take many shots for him to get points. He wont play out of the offense and will be given plenty of opportunity to succeed in good situations. Remember Eric Gordon tailed off really hard last year and hes a fine player so dont look into that. Harden will be a nice complementary piece or even centerpiece for any growing squad.

Harden has the package to be a great complementary player in the league. This being said, we shouldn’t look too much into him trailing off towards the end of this previous season as teams looked to stop him specifically through doubles, shading, and sometimes triples. In the NBA, there’ll be players on Harden’s team who will garner the defenses’ attention, he’ll be a much better player than most think. For example, if Harden goes to Memphis, he won’t need to break double teams like he did at Az St. The defense has both Gay and Mayo to worry about. Harden will be allowed to play the ultra-efficient game he always does. I’d say at his peak, he’d give you 18, 5, and 5 shooting 47%

He will be an above average shooting guard in this day and age. Not an over the top one like oj mayo or possibly eric gordon. He’s got the talent to be great, but I just don’t see him living up to expectations at all. Maybe 1-2 all star games at best.

No, he will not be a star. He’s not a go to guy. What he creates in college (creating opportunities), will just not work in the league. He won’t be able to get by his defender enough to be that guy. He could be a great complimentary player (no where near Pippen), atleast offensively speaking. I think he will continue to improve, but he just doesn’t have it. His tourney games were beyond HORRIFIC, he looked lost in those games too. Sure that doesn’t tell the entire story, but it does tell me he doesn’t have “IT”, which is required for true stars.

I dont know what people are talking about. Harden can be a star. I think he may be a 20-5-5 guy. He has all the tools. He has the size and could score very well. I think he needs to go to a team where he could have another good player around him. IMO, he could be a great pick for Sacramento because he could help as a great SG who is unselfish.

I think as a rookie he could be a 9-4-6 type guy.

9 points a game is a pretty pessimistic prediction for maybe the second most NBA ready player in the draft. He’ll do better than that. 12-15 PPG next season.

Harden is my favorite player in the draft. He is compared to Brandon Roy so there is a possibility he could be a star. If he didn’t get draft by OKC I would buy a Harden jersey but there jersey is ridiculously ugly.

You cant tell how good a player is until he actually plays in the NBA. Some great college shooters might not be able to make contested shots, or NBA 3-pointers. Wait and see how he does. The NBA is a lot better than College Basketball.

i think hell be a very good player and he got drafted into a perfect situation where he can be a third or even 4th option (kristic can put up 15a game)..but just because he is compared to a player doesnt make him a sure thing..after saying that though im pretty confident he will be a very very good player

I watched him play plenty these last 2 years, and I’m kinda up and down on him. He has all the tools, but he does’nt blow you away with his athleticism. He has to put a lot of effort into getting by his man so he does’nt have as much explosion once he does get into the lane. He should be very solid, and he went to a great position where he can just play off of Durant and Green. I’m really curious to see how his game translates to the NBA.

this disscussion would prob be a lil different if he went to a team where he would have to lead from day one…with okc he can take his time and play at his own place as far as development…i also didnt think he was very athletic at asu but i was obviously wrong with the numbers he put up in the combine and after watching some of his workouts and open gym( he played out at ucla a couple times) hes alot quicker then i thought and jumps higher then i thought he did..one reason im guessing is that he had to do everything while at asu and unlike alot of college players he actually tried to play defense. i do recall the same things being said about paul peirce with his slow first step and lack of athletisim..with harden he is smart enough and a good enough player to make up for all the cons about his game
