valentineAfter last season and during the summer there were a couple of outlandish people who said Durant is already better then Melo and very close to Lebron. I was wondering if those people still feel the same way?..I had him just behind Melo and a nice gap behind Lebron with less potential to ever be as good as Lebron. The way Lebron is playing D on Durant right now and how he is taking it to him on offense proves it even more that the gap is not very close. Dont get me wrong i like The Home town kid but i dont see how anyone could think it is that close as far as who is the better player. I think it was another case of if you score alot then you are as good or better then another player. Lebron is giving him work and Melo punished him so as i said last year i still have him behind both of those guys

LAKE SHOWyeah you obviously aren’t watching the game if you just looking at stats( even so you arent REALLY looking at stats) at that point he was 5-17. Thats why you should watch the teams play instead of just looking at stas. Anyone watching can clearly see whats going on

I am watching the game first of all. Second, Durant hasn’t shot well, but LeBron hasn’t done much in the second half either considering he had I believe 14 and 8 assists in the first half. Plus, LeBron isn’t on Durant most of the time either. I’m watching it and was just discussing it with guys watching the game.

R-Dot-13ParticipantIm watching the game, and neither one is really outplaying the other, Durants shot wasnt falling for a while, and Lebron isnt really shooting a great percentage either, andDurant has also gotten to the line 15 times.
Lebron has 23 points and 12 assists, and Durant has 29 points and 10 rebounds..
Dwayne Wade has been the best player on the floor today i think.

R-Dot-13ParticipantI do not think Lebron is giving Durant work either

Thank you. I know someone is watching the game….this dude is just probably channel surfing and saw Durant’s statline and said "Lebron must be holding him down!" when it’s not the case.

Cardinal_FanParticipantU cant compare Lebron an Durant they are 2 totally different types of players. Lebron is so much more versatile and is a playmaker in ways other than scoring. He is not better than Melo because Melo has a complete scoring arsenal Post up, Dribble, Mid range, 3-ball, an he will dunk on u. Durant is juss now starting to really attack the basket. Durant may eventually take over as the best pure scorer in the league but as of rite now he still below those guys imo.

HitsterParticipantI haven’t seen the game that’s just finishing yet but Durant IMO is probably just behind where LeBron was at a similar stage of his career in 2006-07. Durant may be ahead of where Melo was then but Melo has raised his game since then and has been a Franchise Player for several more years than Durant. I’d put Durant and Melo mayve about equal but they are still behind LeBron

BKKnicksfanParticipant…….Lake show? Where you at man?
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 10:46am #480638
LAKE SHOWJust behind as far as a scorer at the same stage yeah.
Good defense Bron getting Durant to shoot 7-20. If only his teammates didn’t foul Durant so much
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 10:47am #480639
LAKE SHOWAlso very good defense by Wade on Westbrook
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 10:49am #480641

Tongue-Out-Like-23ParticipantLeBron James is the most complete NBA player today. He can do it all whereas Durant is soley a solid rebounder and a pure scorer. LeBron’s passing ability and unselfishness is what makes him such a great player. If you’re watching the game, as you say you are.. LeBron had a wide open 3 to take the lead but he passed it off to Eddie House instead, and that’s the reason why he’s so good. Defensively, LeBron moves his feet better and he is better when being posted up than Durant is because of his long arms and strong body. Again, posting up, LeBron is the better player because of his strength than Durant. Tha ability to take over games, I believe LeBron is better because he can not only score on offense and shut down his man on defense, but he really controls the tempo whereas Durant lets Westbrook control tempo and goes with the flow.
Durant or Melo? I’d take Durant because he gives it everything game in and game out. Melo has the more complete offensive game because he is very polished and can do it all but doesn’t rebound at times and sometimes gets lazy or slows down.
Overall, Melo COULD be better than Durant when he actually tries. And Durant is as close as anybody else to LeBron not named Dwyane or Kobe.

Michael.S.ParticipantYea, James locked up Durant pretty well. And James wasn’t off or shut down, he was a playmaker today. Wade played excellent on both offense and D. Bosh was good as well.

TC_42ParticipantMelo – 24pts, 8reb, 43% fg
Durant – 29pts, 7reb, 47% fg
Bron is better than Durant, clearly. But Melo? I don’t see it.
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 12:20pm #480700

KayjayParticipantBut no cigar. Lebron is on a team with two other super stars, and his numbers have only taken a small dip. In truth Durant keeps getting better but aren’t we missing something? He, just as the same as Carmelo and isn’t a play maker. James is lethal and can have a triple double on any given night. I love Durants shot, and if the argument is who is the better shooter, its Durant. But Lebron over all is the better player. Lets just stop bashing Lebron and admit it.

R-Dot-13ParticipantI agree with TC
I think Lebron is better than Durant for now.
But i don’t see Melo being a better player than KD
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 12:26pm #480706
goneParticipantHow can you say Melo doesnt rebound at times? He is averaging a career high 8.3. Plus Melo is light years more clutch than Durant. Other than that its pretty even, even thou Melo is having a down year scoring we have seen him score 30 a game
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 12:28pm #480709

BKKnicksfanParticipantMelo was #1 on that clutch list. He was like 23/47 in late game shots in his career.

LAKE SHOWIsn’t melo getting more boards than Durant yet you say he doesn’t rebound all the time?..lol
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 2:27pm #480778
nateoak10ParticipantBut LBJ is the best player in the NBA, Durant is behind Dwight and CP3 . Kobe is on the down side of his career and is right behind KD imo
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 2:31pm #480782

andxxxParticipantHow could you put KD ahead of Kobe? I agree Lebron is the best right now, but Kobe is obviously second best
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 2:40pm #480787
Quincey HodgesKobe behind KD???…lol thats funny
0 - Posted on: Sun, 01/30/2011 - 2:59pm #480796

R-Dot-13ParticipantI love KD, but Kobe is better right now.
In my opinion it goes
Lebron
Kobe
Wade
KD
Carmelo
Howard

SDEParticipantMelo this year said he took the OKC game personal cause people said KD was better and he torch him for i think 36 this year and whenever he play against lebron he win that matchup and make game winners in his face and the nuggets beat the heat SMH. And he gave Kobe and Artest the blues this year Melo could easily be the best player in the league but he only get up for big games which is his downfall.

Michael.S.Participant"Melo could easily be the best player in the league"
He’s great, but no he couldn’t.
