TheArtistPaysthePriceParticipantLast time they got the second pick, they picked a solid player with a high floor and a low ceiling because they coulndnt get the big man that would become a perennial Allstar and Defensive Player of the Year.
The situation now is really similar with T. Rob and Beal being really safe picks with 15 ppg a game floors. What should they do?

fcb206ParticipantI’d take Drummond. this team is awful. least talent by far in the league. even with davis they would be a lock to be the worst team in the NBA again next year. Their strategy should be to take a gamble on a guy who could be a superstar. I have doubts about drummond, but I’m not sure where taking Thomas Robinson, Beal or Barnes really gets them in the long run. my favorite comp for robinson is antonio davis. is that a guy you take with the second pick in the draft? no way. This is a wasted draft for charlotte. there is no immediate difference maker available, and by the time they are any good at all, a guy with the potential to be a second scorer on a good team (Beal, Barnes, etc) will be free agents with lots of suitors.
Take Drummond and pray.

CodySLCParticipantI agree, i think they should roll the dice on Drummond. People always make the Kwame Brown comparison. And that Jordan shouldn’t repeat history. But Drummond played a year of college ball, and is a freak athlete. Which Brown didn’t and wasn’t.

Lebron’s HairlineParticipantIt looks like trob is the smart pick because he is nba ready but I think they should roll the dice on Drummond even though the Charlotte situation isn’t good, their not going to be competing in the next 3 years so let Drummond develop and continue to draft good players in the lottery until 2016(bulls have their pick unprotected)

MalcolmxParticipantComparing Kwame to Drummond make no sense.First off Kwame hands are the size of a 13 year olds.He can’t palm a ball.Drummond on the other had makes the ball look like a grapefruit, which helps a lot and their athleticism are in two different worlds.Draft Andre and see what happens.

WolfRobParticipantTake Drummond and suck, pray for Shabazz.
Or what I would do… Take whatever Cleveland offers to swap. Hopefully the 4th & 24th, still probably grab Drummond and another good young prospect. I might even roll the dice on Wroten or Q-Miller with the 24th.
Then… Still be one of the worst teams and hope for a franchise changer in next years draft. There’s no way around it.. This team is a project and a half.
Time will make them better.

lilballa141ParticipantI’ve had the bobcats taking Drummond for awhile…I believe they should pick them..at the #2 and how bad they are they shouldn’t be looking for the "safe" pick at all..a safe pick leads them to another top 5 pick anually and if they do somehow eventually make the playoffs with a T-rob.. they WILL get knocked out every year first round…
At this point you have to gamble and hope for best…In this time drummond can develop and potentially land a guy like shabazz next year… dude is a beast.. The Bobcats HAVE to roll the dice on him if not it shows why this organization stinks and always will

Beard13Participanti thought howard was gonna be a bobcat back in 2004 i thought okafor would go #1 to orlando and howard would go to the expansion team where he could grow would no pressure to win in his early years

HaleParticipantThey can’t get screwed out of it again if they never could’ve gotten him in the first place. They didn’t even participate in the lottery.

SubZeroParticipantYeah I agree, I don’t see what drafting any of the others does for them. Drummond has as much potential as Anthony Davis and if they went with the safe pick, that would only MAYBE get them an 8th seed in a few years, then they eventually leave/get traded and then they’re right back where they started. They HAVE to gamble on the star power because it’s so hard to come by, and if he pays off then he’ll be an animal

sheltwon3ParticipantI think rolling the dice on Drummond is a good move unless you put the right people around him. I think you go Barnes this year and look to go big next year where they may be more centers or guys with legit centers size. I think if they took Drummonds or Barnes, I would not be bad but if you take Barnes, you have a Walker/Henderson/Barnes core. If somehow Biyombo can be a poor man’s Ibaka. You have a team similiar to OKC in the East.
I know that is a lot of stretching but I think Barnes could have put up KD like numbers if he went to a team where the offense was geared around him versus NC offense. I think he can be a poor man’s KD. Henderson has a mid range game and can get to the basket and free throw line like Harden. Kemba is nothing like Westbrook but if he can play like he did the year the won, maybe he can score and slash enough to put up similiar stats on offense but it is clear to me he will never be Westbrook on D. Bobcats can trade DJ for another piece. They can also make that trade for Andray Blatche. It is almost certain Washington moves him and if Wiz are still looking to trade Cats needs to say yes. If Blatche puts up 18pt 10 rb like he has done before his contract is actually a good deal and he only has like 3 years left. That gives you time to either like him or replace him and not has to play someone over 10 million to feel that starting role.
