Jonas V is the starting center in Toronto, unless he is traded.  Lakers have all the money to spend, so Biyambo is getting more to start for LA.  That is assuming, Whiteside and others don’t go the the Lakers.

DeRozan is from LA, this is his chance for big money at home, and even if the Raptors can offer a bit more when the high Canada taxes are looked at maybe DeRozan is better financially in the USA.

So there is a chance that both are Lakers.  Maybe one stays in Toronto, I don’t see a big chance that both will.  If DeRozan stays, on triple his current money, then there is nothing there for the Raptors to spend on Bismack.

Raptors are lucky they have the New York lotto pick, they might need that player a lot next season.

Who knew the Toronto GM would mess up so badly by paying D Carroll so much.  Norman Powell may be better than him.

This will be the last time the Raptors are in a conference finals for a long time.  It looks like they either overpay or lose a third of their team.

DeMar is more likely to take a pay cut to keep the core intact than he is too leave for another opportunity but your definitely entitled to your opinion.

More of a train wreck than even I believed……… & I think that Kuipcheck & Buss are Hopeless…… DeRozan is over-rated……… but he’s still a Massive upgrade of Russell……

If they sign DeRozan & pair him w/ Clarkson to go w/ Ingram…… they can trade Russell & possibly get something for him although I don’t think it would be much……

But Clarkson, DeRozan & Ingram could fill it up….. Randle is a decent PF (can’t have a scoring threat at Every spot)…..

And they would still need a viable NBA Center – Byambo is Not a starter…..

    DeRozan to LA – certain

Biyombo will just go wherever the money is. LA? Why not…

Well I hate to admit it but it seems as if I’m in denial. 4 out of 5 of us so far in this thread seem to believe he is leaving and I’m the other 1. Not a good ratio. We will see how it plays out but I think he stays.

I only want DeRozan on the Lakers if KD is coming, which is very unlikely to say the least. Absolutely no need to pay a 27 year old 26 million/yr to play with a bunch of teenagers. You already have Clarkson, Russell, probably Ingram and Lou Williams as sure-fire rotation members and none of them are capable defenders.

My guess is they’re going after KD, fail, and then go after a solid 3-and-D wing off the bench a la Bazemore, Lance Thomas or Solomon Hill.

As for the center position, think Tarik Black is retained as restricted, but will still need a starting center who can protect the paint and someone to spread the floor in the front court. My guess it will be Mo Speights as a stretch 4/5 b/c of his Walton ties and either Whiteside, Biyombo or Noah as a starter, in that order, with the latter being a short-term, stop-gap solution if unable to land these younger guns.

It is easy to dismiss Lakers fans as delusional,  most of them are, very few actually know basketball,

As a Laker fan, I say no to DeRozan. They have enough shooters: the exact reason Biyombo would make some sense. They have enough shot takers. They also need veterans who model working hard. In fact, if I was the Lakers, those are only vets I’d sign: hard workers. To grow, I think hard working veterans are more helpful than skilled veterans. But then, I’m thinking about development, not winning.

Why would any top free agents want to go to LA, the franchise is currently a disaster.  Derozan will be a raptor next year and more then likely so will Biz.  People forget the raptors salary was 22 million less then Golden state, 25 million less then OKC and 37 million less then the cavs.  The raptors also are one of the more profitble teams in the league so going into the luxury tax is not impossible

This is true but they don’t have rights to resign Biyambo over the cap like they do Derozan. Biyambo has an option he either opts in for a fraction of what he would make in the market or opt out. The luxary tax doesn’t quite matter to Toronto sports teams but the team is still obligated to follow the CBA’s rules thus creating a situation where someone would have to take a paycut and Ross would have to be moved which may cost Toronto a 1st round pick.

I trust Ujiri too work his magic though. You guys are just mad that nobody in the East can compete with Cleveland but Toronto and quite honestly with or without Derozan or Biyambo I don’t really see this trend changing anytime soon.

So wait we can resign Biyambo than offer the max to Derozan. Why is this even a conversation than. It will happen. I’ve been saying all year Derozan is going nowhere. I swear to god you guys think of Derozan as just another star player in this league but he is more humble than your average NBA player. This guy really has been the heart and soul of Toronto why would he give up what he built. Where would he find a better situation. He’s not going to Cleveland, San Antonio, Golden State or OKC so plain and simple there is no better situation out there.

DeRozan, who will become an unrestricted free agent July 1, has been with the Raptors for his entire career. He was asked specifically if he can find a better situation than Toronto

“I don’t think so,” DeRozan said Saturday. “My mindset has always been Toronto. I’ve always preached it. I was passionate about it when we were losing, when we were terrible. I said I was going to stick through this whole thing, and I want to be that guy who brings this organization to where it is now. I definitely don’t want to switch that up after we win.
