The site has him previously compared to Darren Collison as a draft prospect. Now that Schröder is closing out his 2nd year as the Hawks backup point guard to Jeff Teague, what are the odds, he surpasses the likes of veteran Tony Parker later on down the line?

I wouldn’t bet on Dennis Schroder to ever making multiple All Star teams and leading the Hawks into the Finals(Not to mention ever winning Finals MVP)

I like DS, I do, I just think he’s in a great situation in Atlanta and I commend the progress he’s made this early on, he’s a very good young G prospect, but to put him on the level on of TP(or project him to a career similar is a little sudden)

Could one reason that Parker is a product of a system as well?

I wouldnt go as far as to say Tony is a product of a system. Rather I would say Tony is the product of hard work and consistency from his organization. They believed in him and brought him along slowly.

I mean, TP didnt exactly set the world on fire his first few years. People had concerns about his D and shooting ability. Dennis could be a great player in a few years. He’s still just a kid. This isnt to say that hes a future HOF. I havent watched enough of him to say.

All I did was ask a question. The same thing can go for Schröder to a certain degree. I never knocked Parker’s ability to hoop. It’s no difference, when he said Schröder is becoming a product of that system, but we all can agree that the guy can ball as well.

Schroder will definitely surpass Parker as a defender. The kid is long and has quick-az hands. But it’s a tall order for someone to be a better 1 than TP. Because of the Spurs system that breathed starpower into the likes of Danny Green and Gary Neal people think that even someone like TP is simply a product of the system.

People forget that he often leads the league in ‘points in the paint’ for large swaths of any season. That kind of ability is not akin to being a great spot of shooter, (which is many ways is a product of a system) that’s straight up ability. Will Schroder learn to perfect his floaters, scoop shots and spin moves to the level of Parker? Probably not… probably not.

I agree with your take on Parker. I actually believe he’s the best in the game right now to play the game of "Tom and Jerry" inside the paint. He’s just that good at maneuvering to get his shots up and under while playing below the rim.
