Saw this on realgm.com as well. Really hope this is not an April Fool’s joke, that would be incredibly mean spirited. But, I think it is for real! I have to say, congrats to Dennis. He was a brilliant defender and rebounder, worked his butt off and made top PF’s go through a living hell when they went up against him. He was 6’7, 210 and a complete maniac on the boards.

Dennis was known for his colorful hair and personality, but he was a 2 time All-Star (Pistons both times), 2 time defensive player of the year and lead the league in rebounding 7 years in a row. Also, the guy was a major part in 5 championship teams and a lot of winning in between. He was an incredibly unique player and due to his being outspoken and doing some things that were kind of out there. Luckily, his performance on the court prevailed and he got the recognition he deserves! Congrats, Dennis!

Great Defender and Rebounder who was well undersized for his position.  Him and his hustle and smart team play could help you win a title and it did numerous of times. Congrats to Dennis.

did you see him cry during his speech at halftime? I haven’t seen Dennis so emotional like that and the T-Shirt he presented honoring the Pistons and Chuck Daly was cool

But, Dennis was such a unique player. He was one of the better defenders of all time, was incredibly relentless. Plus, pound for pound, and especially in the modern day, he was maybe the best rebounder of all-time. This guy lead the NBA in boarding for 7 straight years. For some reason, guys who played in the ABA for their best years have a harder time getting in the Hall (Mel Daniels and Artis Gilmore). I think they both more than likely deserve it, especially Artis, but they also never had 5 rings. Dennis Rodman is not Robert Horry, who was more of a role player. Dennis played much more of a role as a defender and as a post presence in general. He was the 3rd guy on most of those teams.

Overall, their really should not need to be an explanation of why is being elected. You named some great players, but Dennis’ career accomplishments speak for themselves. Their are a lot of players that are deserving of being in the Hall of Fame, but why take away the election of a really deserving player? Well, hope you feel good about yourself. Since we all of course, vote for the hall of fame and all. Dude, just be happy for the guy. I personally would be happy for all of those guys, but I guess Dennis’ turn came first.
