i just finished a debate about a trade concerning shump for dudley and a 1rst pick.
first of all if the pick from phoenix is lottery protected then trade is off because 99% phoenix are in the lottery. but if the pick is unprotected then :

would NY accept a trade : shump + cap filler for dudley and ben mclemore (of course YES)
would phoenix accept : of course NO

would NY accept a trade : shump + cap filler for dudley and Bazz (of course YES)
would phoenix accept : of course NO

would NY accept a trade : shump + cap filler for dudley and Noel (of course YES)
would phoenix accept : of course NO

would NY accept a trade : shump + cap filler for dudley and Smart (of course YES)
would phoenix accept : of course NO

    etc …

i love shumpert and i think he COULD become an all star one day but ACL injuries are serious and you never know if you can ever regain your full strength and athleticism.

So in my opinion it’s safe to say that shump for dudley and an unprotected pick is a good deal for NY.

but some people don’t and i’m not convinced by their arguments !

There is no guarantee that they can get any of those players or that they would even target them.
There is no guarantee that any of the players they get in the draft will pan out.
Jared Dudley is good but he is already 27 and clearly not a building piece for the future, just a good role player.
Yes ACL injuries are serious but not near as bad as they used to be.
Phoenix is clearly the place to go for injury-plagued players. If Shumpert goes there then he will most likely have a great chance at getting back to his old form, if not better.
Shumpert is already a proven player. He brings great defense, energy, and athleticism. He is more than capable of being a primary ball-handler and playmaker. There would be several opportunities for him to handle the ball and for Dragic to spot up for threes which he is good at. He is great at driving and kicking it out. Honestly if he recovers he has just as much potential as anybody in this draft and like I said he is already proven when these young guys aren’t

Don’t get me wrong I think this would be a great trade for NY and any player they get in the lottery could potentially be a good enough replacement for Shump and Dudley is a good proven vet who plays good D and fits perfectly into their offense knocking down threes. These are just some things to consider for the other side bc I really dont think it is a bad trade for Phoenix at all.

The thing is that the Suns also have a first rounder from the Lakers from Steve Nash.So Shumpert and cap filler(let’s say Novak) for Dudley and let s say Tony Mitchell?I think ths is a fair trade for both teams
