    From the Contra Costa Times

The Warriors are close to a sign-and-trade with the New York Knicks for their All-Star power forward David Lee, according to multiple sources.

The Warriors would send forward Anthony Randolph — not guard Monta Ellis as previously rumored — along with a few other pieces to New York. But, like the rest of the universe, they are waiting on LeBron James.

If James announces he’s decided to play anywhere but New York, the Warriors are in play for Lee. The Warriors are one of a few teams in the mix for Lee via a sign-and-trade with the Knicks. And the Warriors have an offer the Knicks favor, a team source said.

Randolph could be joined by center Ronny Turiaf or swingman Kelenna Azubuike, and an expiring contract such as forward Vladimir Radmanovic.

Golden State management, one source said, still considers it a real possibility that Lee takes a lucrative offer elsewhere, or the Knicks do a sign-and-trade with another team. But as long as James doesn’t go to the Knicks, the Warriors are “in the game.”

The Warriors won’t offer Lee a max deal, but one source suggested Golden State’s ceiling is a six-year deal starting at about $13 million. New Jersey is still an option, also the Minnesota Timberwolves — who Lee visited earlier this month and was reportedly impressed.

The news that free agent forward Carlos Boozer signed a five-year, $80 million deal with Chicago helps the Warriors’ bid because it eliminates a team thought to be in the running to nab Lee.

Golden State management is salivating over the possibility of adding Lee to a starting lineup featuring a backcourt of Monta Ellis and Stephen Curry. Not to mention center Andris BIedrins, who the Warriors hope shakes off a disappointing season.

Once of the sources is convinced that the Warriors can pull the trigger on a lucrative deal for Lee despite the pending sale of the franchise. The reason? They will still be under the luxury tax, as adding Lee would be akin to keeping forward Corey Maggette’s contract and giving him a raise, and adding an All-Star boosts the on-court product.

I actually think they should move Ellis after The Lee Deal too…that’s a small ball team any way shake a leg at it and if you can get a package like the one Memphis offered last year(Mayo and Thabeet for Ellis)

I would be calling them back now and offering Ellis for Mayo and whoever else they are willing part with…Maybe Sam Young or Darrel Arthur…I think they’ve grown on Thabeet….

I like Lee, but I don’t want the warriors to give up randolph. I would really like a starting lineup of Curry, Ellis, williams, randolph, and lee. With morrow and wright first off the bench.

If the knicks get Randolph they should have saved that money they gave amare and used randolph in that role he is cheaper and just as explosive and he is willing to block shots and rebound. maybe they will play them together if so that will be the most explosive frontcourt in the league

    Can some one tell me…

If they trade Ellis for Lee and just use some of the Cap on Mike Miller and Anthony Morrow they’d be set to me ….Randolph is more valuable than Monte in my eyes…He can play the 3 and 4 and if he’s any where near a Lamar Odom like Sf that would be the best team they’d possibly have ….
Curry, Miller, Randolph, Lee, Beidrins,Udoh, Morrow, Turiaf, Azibuike…sounds good until they get a real Sg in the Draft….I hate small Sg’s that ball hog and jack up shots…6’4 and up or go home…

Because Randolph is not nearly the player Stoudemire is, and playing him in that role would get Walsh and D’Antoni fired. I actually think that Randolph will be used the way D’Antoni used Diaw. It could work out, but I’ll reserve judgment on their offseason until they get a point guard.

As for Lee to GS, I don’t see how it makes them better. It just gives them another stat padder who has never been a part of a winner.

I would want Randolph, Ellis, Radmonovic, and Turiaf and send Lee, Chandler and a 2013 1st back that way

I would pull the trigger only on one condition…eith GS gives up picks or Ellis. Personally I would want Ellis, maybe a 2012 first rounder if they are willing to part for Lee and Chandler.

warriors are gonna be solid if they get lee. He fits great with what they have. And Williams was a huge steal for them last season. Turriaf was there best interior defender when healthy, so losing him would sting a little.

I would love Randolph but where would he fit? He would have to be a sixth man. Unless Amare is our 5 man.

I love the haters who take my points. Take a hint, you keep taking them- I’m only coming back.

This would be a great backup for NYC because Randolph and Turiaf only make a combined 5 million. The Knicks would still have 10-11 million to make some moves.

Stoudemire, Randolph, Turiaf would be a great frontline then in 2011 get Carmelo Anthony, Tony Parker, JR Smith and Re-sign Wilson Chandler for perimeter D and draft Kemba Walker

    Bigs- Stoudmire, Turiaf, Randolph
    Wings- Anthony, Gallinari, Smith, Chandler
    Points- Parker, Walker, Douglas
