Before anyone says, "Dale?! Syracuse?! You dun lost your mind! Keep in mind that The Cuse played like absolute fecal matter during Jimmy Boeheim’s nine game suspension yet is 14-3 with 4 top 25 victories (3 coming on a neutral site/road) with Boeheim on the sideline. They have been arguably a top 10 team WITH Boeheim.

You should count in cal me mace porter. Cal just got Tyrone Wallace back and proceeded to blow #11 Oregon out by 20 then beat Payton’s beavers by 12. The Bears are for real, certainly better then gonzaga who I have seen like 5 times.

LL, I really like Cal’s size and athleticism but there is a major hole with that team.

      Cal is 16-0 at home.

Cal is 1-8 away from home (only W coming against #172 Wyoming in OT).

That does not bode well come Tourney Time.

    …played like absolute fecal matter…

I’ve been on this forum seven years and I can honestly say this is the first time I’ve ever seen this phrase. Well done.

I love this KU team. They are deep and have plenty of uperclassmen. Perfect for a year like this with no standout team. Their lack of an end-of-the-game-go-to-scorer scares me. This team doesn’t have a Hield, Valentine or Uthoff. That could mean an early, unexpected exit.

On the bright side; KU is a very good FT shooting team, so they can finish off teams there.

Indeed. They also lack a dependable low post presence. Their best boarder is Perry Ellis at 6.5 RPG, which is good, not great, not to mention Ellis is kind of a hybrid forward, not a true banger.

Kansas beat Oklahoma twice so I am not sure what is keeping the Sooners ahead of Kansas for you.

Also you are clearly missing teams that have a good shot to win it like West Virginia and UNC…..yet you have Duke who is one of the softest teams around….I would definitely have Iowa St., Kentucky and Purdue ahead of Duke as well.

Then you have USC, A&M and Gonzaga….might as well add Monmouth and Stony Brook to this list.

WVU is naughty on the offensive glass and defending the 3 but they do not have a 3.5 APGer and their A/TO as a team is outside the top 100. Those kind of weaknesses do not translate to Tourney success.

UNC is 287th in defending the 3. No team that bad has ever made the Final Four, no matter how much talent they had otherwise.

Duke makes the grade in every statistical trend in my model although they are kind of shaky at the point. They have Grayson Allen there, although he’s really a 2, not a 1. Still averaging 3.7 APG, which is enough to warrant Final Four consideration.

Iowa State is outside the top 200 in offensive rebounding and effective height. Two more death sentences.

I love Purdue’s front court but they don’t have a facilitator. Their leading assist man is 2.7/game or something horrid.

I love your geriatric self Dirty Dale and on one hand the tournament can be unpredictable and you’re entitled to your opinion.

The main team I have a problem with on your list is Gonzaga. Their roster is as short as Leroy Jenkins and they will only go as far as Sabonis and Wiltjer can carry them.

      I love you, too, McD!

Yeah, they’re a weird team. They’re short on depth and quality wins but they somehow made the grade in all the statistical trends I use. Their freshman PG Perkins has been improving week-in-and-week-out which is something to keep an eye on.

It’s highly unlikely I will actually pick them to go to the Final Four b/c they’re probably going to be an 8 or a 9-seed and they only have 1 top 50 win, which came in November.
