valentineExcept Crowder is 3 years younger than Carroll was last year.
Check out the stat comparison. Carroll shoots 40% from 3 vs Crowder’s 35%, but Crowder scores 14ppg vs Carroll’s 12ppg last year.
Blocks and steals, Crowder has him beat by a clear margin

morestealsthanscoresParticipantNot identical. Carroll achieved this in a contract year before fleeing Atlanta for a $60m, $15m/year contract.
Crowder achieved this in the first season of a new five year contract…PAYING SEVEN MILLION FRICKIN’ DOLLARS A YEAR.
I called that deal as a bargain when it got signed…now, it looks flat out rediculous.
Boston did good. Boston did real good.

HitsterParticipantCrowder is having a very good year and now his contract looks like a bargain but his deal was based on under 60 games with Boston as he’d done very little in Dallas so it was a good deal for him to get and it turned out to be a great deal for both sides.
Carroll had played two very solid seasons in Atlanta after like Crowder not done much in his earlier career, at 29 years old last summer he was always likely to take the best pay day on the table and Toronto offered it him.

TRC1991ParticipantCrowder should have gambled on himself and not taken such a long contract with such mediocre pay

Chilbert arenasParticipantA little off topic but am I the only one that with a great deal of work to his 3 point shot (specifically the corner 3) Alex Poythress could be the next Carroll/Crowder type? Or does he simply not have enough dog in him? (Note that Carroll was known as the "Junkyard Dog" at Mizzou)

AdamJCallejaParticipantI really have no faith in Alex improving offensively, after 4 years he still doesn’t have any real foundation or simple go to moves offensively. Nothing close to either of these guys

thaprodigyParticipantBruh, I thought I was the only one thinking this. I’m a Celtics fan and really didn’t care Jae Crowder at ALL until recently when I saw his numbers and realized he’s putting up the same numbers that just got Carroll $15 million.
Got to admit though, I wasn’t sure if I was just thinking that because they both had dreads too.

Very BuseyI think Crowder has a good chance of being an all star in the next couple years. But these things take momentum and reputation as much as actual production.
IT4 probably would have been passed over this year if he didn’t do so much to raise his reputation last year.

OhCanada-ParticipantCan’t lie looking at the numbers and stats Boston got a great deal that I am kind of jealous about. Caroll hasn’t settled into his groove just yet and has struggled asserting himself within the lineups chemistry. Although I’m happy with the signing because of the upside he has defensively at 6’8. So essentially right now the signing looks bad but sooner or later he will find his spots in the system increasing his percentages but his ability to play small ball PF and defend at a high level won’t go away. In theory…we will see how it plays out come postseason.

HitsterParticipantCrowder was always going to accept any sort of decent pay day that Boston offered him and to get a 5 year deal would have given him and his agent longer term security that they were looking for.
Lance Stephenson turned down a 5 year deal to stay in Indiana in favour of a 3 year deal elsewhere, he may well not get a deal to match the 2 extra years he turned down now.
For every player stuck on a big deal and not earning it, you’ve got players on bargain type deals. Steph Curry MVP took what was considered a good deal in 2012, now it looks like the greatest bargain ever. But he’ll get paid next summer and already makes millions in endorsements.

Very BuseyAnd now Evan Turner, considered a total scrub in Indy, who Lance started a fist fight with, is more valuable than Lance, and due for a bigger payday.
Signing with Boston has turned around so many careers in just the last 2-3 years.
Jordan Crawford was turned into an Eastern Conference Player of the Week in Boston, before he was traded for a conditional first rounder that turned into two borderline first round picks/top second round picks.

phreshprinceParticipantNot only is he a much more competant basketball player than a lot of us ever realized AND on a bargain deal, but it can be easily argued that he’s the MVP of the team.
Btw, I never post on this site but I’ve been reading the forums to get thoughts on what the basketball community is thinking about certain topics and players for years. I had to break that to talk about my man Jae!!

Hype MachineJust out of curiousity, how have you managed to get 111 points from just 3 posts.
Considering that this one only has +1…you’re other 2 posts have averaged +55pts

ZachAttackParticipantI looked at his other posts as I was curious as well… He has a grand total of… 4 points!!!
IDK why it says 111.
