IndianaBasketballParticipantDuring the Celtics vs Hornets game yesterday, Rondo and Paul got fiesty and exchanged words. Rondo was talking a lot of trash and apparently it got Paul heated. Referees had to step between both players and gave them both technicals. After the game ended, Paul tried to follow Rondo into the Celtics’ locker room. He was stopped by Celtics assistant coaches. He had this to say after the game…
“Rondo is a lucky guy, to play with guys like Pierce, [Ray] Allen and [Kevin] Garnett,” Paul, who scored 22 points with eight assists, said with a sly smile.
I get the feeling Paul thinks Rondo is a little overrated and feeling himself a little too much.

DWadeBIWParticipantwow… i would not expect this from Paul
And rondo is lucky0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 6:03am #226018

gatorheelsParticipantChris Paul is just wishing that he was surrounded by talented veteran players like Rondo is. You gotta admit Paul doesn’t have much help. Hornets have an above average low post duo in David West & Okafor but still that is nothing special. New Orleans is starting Morris Peterson & Julian Wright…haha you have to be kidding me. Neither one of those guys are quality starters in my eyes. Hornets need to draft a Small Forward in the 2010 draft. With all this said I think Chris Paul was just frustrated that the Celtics won. It was a pretty even matchup between Paul & Rondo in this game. Obviously Paul is the much better scorer but everything else is pretty even.

trojans13ParticipantDont forget about CP3’s college days when he got frustrated and decided to give a little jab to Julius Hodge’s male area, the way i look at it Rondo got off easy and unscathed haha!

trojans13ParticipantYou know you have a pretty good basketball family when you gather for a family pickup game at Thanksgiving and Shelden Williams is your 3rd best player.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 6:32am #226024
joecheck88ParticipantRondo has worked real hard to become the player he has. That being said Rondo is extremely overrated. Chris Paul is a fiery competitor and things like this happen every once in awhile. Chris Paul at this pace will be a top 5 point guard of all time, he just doesn’t have the talent around him. David West is a nice player but he shouldn’t be a second option on any team.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 6:38am #226029

sheltwon3ParticipantRondo said something about Chris Paul first. It was in the news. He said something about if he had the ball in his hand like Chris Paul he would put up larger numbers and something about not being impressed with what Paul is doing. Rondo could never carry a team like Paul does but I will say that he is a pretty good guard with great talent but I want yall to know that Rondo drew first blood and deserved what was said.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 6:42am #226034

JJeff6ParticipantI dont know about you guys, but I think paul just seems jelous of rondos team and situation. I would take Paul over Rondo, but I think rondo fits better into the celtics start loaded lineup than paul would….rondo is more of a passfirst guy while paul likes to score. Paul amd Rondo are great in their own ways
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 7:07am #226045

sheltwon3ParticipantPaul is more shoot first lol. Are you kidding me. Paul most of the time gets 9 assists or more and if he had better players he would average assists in the teens every game. Why would Paul be jealous. Rondo is Jealous of Paul getting paid the max and said something stupid before this game refering to Paul.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 7:10am #226051

llperezsunsturaround, i think your crazy if you think Paul is a shoot first pg and the celtics are better off with rondo. You put Paul on the celtics, and it would be over for the rest the league.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 7:15am #226053
tonyl33ParticipantYou guys are dumb to say Rondo is a better fit then Paul. Paul can play on any team and still make the team better than Rondo. There is no comparison here when it comes to Paul and Rondo. Anyone who thinks Paul can’t do better on the celtics team just doesn’t have any basketball IQ. If CP3was in Boston, there would be no doubt in anyones mind to that Boston would win it all. That’s dumb to say Rondo fits better than Paul.

quincey hodgeshas anyone ever watched the hornets?..if so then you know this is no suprise comming from paul..hes a very quick tempered guy and thats been known in the n.c area since his highschool days…and when you are angrey you say things that you dont really mean…rondo has proven hes not overrated by any stretch of the imaginatin..if there was ever any doubt that doubt was gone after the way he played wit garnett injured and ray allen not playing so well…people need to stop faulting a player just because they play wit good players because if thats the case then there shoyuld be more people calling out players ont he celtics title teams and lakers title teams
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 9:06am #226093
QHaynes20CP3 can leave if he wants more players around him.
Rondo is not overrated at all. I said in the offseason- top 5 PG and now’s he’s getting paid like it!
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 9:08am #226097

llperezwhy you defending rondo on this? Watch the video, rondo goes up to paul and gets in his face and paul just put’s his hands up like wtf? Rondo’s own teammates were saying that rondo was the one doing most the talking during the game. And rondo ain’t on pauls level as a player. Paul is a fiesty dude, but so is rondo, just ask Brad Miller and Kirk HInrich.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 9:10am #226099

llperez6 pg’s i would take ahead of Rondo: Chris paul, Deron Williams, Gilbert Arenas, Steve Nash, Chauncey Billups, Tony Parker.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 9:15am #226102
quincey hodgesim not defending rondo..im not even really giving much of a opinion because its dumb..anyone that plays basketball knows this stuff happens every day and its not a big deal..maybe to some fans think this is a real big deal but it really isnt
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 9:35am #226107

sheltwon3ParticipantRondo said something before the game and probably during. Who is getting paid more. Also i would love to see how the aging Celtics do in the West. Chris Paul is better. Rondo is a better raw specimen but Paul has the IQ and the skills. Think about it, I know Ainge would not be waiting this late to sign Paul to an extenstion. Rondo is the one Jealous because unlike Paul he will never be a max paid player.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 10:21am #226118
joecheck88ParticipantTop 5 point guard- ha that is funny. rondo is garbage and needs to shut his mouth. chris paul on the celtics would have more points on the same amount of shots as rondo, and average about 14 apg. i would take chris paul, deron williams, derrick rose, tony parker, steve nash, jameer nelson, chauncey billups, gilbert arenas, mario chalmers, russell westbrook, and maybe more over rondo. I think steve blake would do just as well on that team as rondo maybe better. bash me if you want but we will see when the big 3 get to be a year or 2 older and rondo will be more trash than he is now.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 10:29am #226122
Michael.S.Participant“why you defending rondo on this? Watch the video, rondo goes up to paul and gets in his face and paul just put’s his hands up like wtf? JNixonParticipantRondo was talking trash that game, and so what. If you don’t like that players talk trash to each other you need to go on “www.golfdraft.net” or “www.figureskatingdraft.net”…. Because clearly basketball isn’t the sport you need to talk about. Smack talk happens every game, sometimes you can’t even hear it or see it on TV. Some handle it better than others, but it’s still gonna happen even if you can’t.
Rondo is not an overrated player. He is a top 5 PG, I agree 100% with Quincey and Q. Haynes..And I know that he’d be a good scorer that could flirt with 20 and 10 if he had more of a scoring role for his team. He did it last year whenever a member of the Big 3 was injured. He’s an elite player who dominates games without even really looking for his shots, and he’s hands down the best defensive PG in basketball. And he’s this good without a jumper.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 11:19am #226156

llpereziggy, not one person on here has complained about them talking trash. We all know it goes on. and if you think he is top 5, then I’m curious to hear which 2 of the 6 i mentioned he is better then.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 11:21am #226158

Kapwno24Participantthat is unlike chris paul but he is right, he is just jealous his best teammates are chandler and west compared to the truth, kg, and allen

JNixonParticipantI’d take him over Steve Nash..that would make him top 5.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 11:44am #226176

llperezwell, that would make him top 6. I could see the argument against nash, but nash is so efficient on offense and racks up assits. His shooting is still elite. Just don’t ask him to play d. It’s close between thise two, so I wouldn’t argue too much though.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 11:48am #226177

llperezdamn, somebody got irritated on this thread.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 11:59am #226184

JNixonParticipantYea they did lol…but you named 6 people and I said he was better than 1 or your 6, so that would make him top 5.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 12:00pm #226186

llperezwell, if i name 6 and you subtract just 1(nash) that still leaves 5 guys i named better then rondo, meaning he’s still 6th unless you pick another one.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 12:04pm #226188

JNixonParticipantLol! My bad your right. I guess Rondo is tied for 5th (with Billups) then.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 12:11pm #226189

butidonthavemoneyThe only reason I watched the game yesterday was because I knew Rondo and Paul would go at it…
Paul looked disinterested and sad throughout the entire game yesterday. He’s feeling bad for himself, and he needs to suck it up…
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/02/2009 - 12:14pm #226191

IndianaBasketballParticipantRondo isn’t overrated, but I don’t think he’s a top five point guard. He’s in the top ten. I’d put him at seven right now. He’s a better defender than Nash, but I wouldn’t take him over Nash. Not yet.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/09/2009 - 6:26pm #228265
youngmagParticipantRondo is a great passing pg but he can’t shoot with a gun. Rondo is no where close to Cp3. I respect Rondos game because he is a great defender, passer,n rebounder but outside of that he can’t do nada. The triple double from the playoffs made me really see how versatile before but if you put him on a team like the Hornets he wouldn’t do no where close to what Cp3 does. He benefits from his team mostly. Cp3 has a mediocre roster and still does what he does and some how got them into the playoffs these past couple of years.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/09/2009 - 6:28pm #228266

llperezI wonder if Kyle Lowry was in Boston if he would look like a top 5 pg to people on here?
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/09/2009 - 6:31pm #228267
youngmagParticipantHe is not top 5….He still better than Nash though Nash is another player that benefits from his team and system but Cp3,D-Will,Tony Parker,Chauncey(even though I think hes overrated),Devin Harris, and Derrick Rose I’ll take them before Rondo.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/09/2009 - 6:56pm #228276

llperezagreed, but most people on here don’t. Truth is he is on a title team and does his job, so I can’t hate. But I just think there are other pg’s who carry teams who are better and would love to be in his position.
0 - Posted on: Mon, 11/09/2009 - 8:51pm #226021
RUDEBOYPaul has a point..Rondo is a bit overrated..But he is the perfect point guard for that team..He’s hard work and it has really paid off…Rondo might not be as good on another team…He said that if he was on the Hornets he’ll have better stats than Paul….If Rondo was on the Hornets they’re be 1 of the worst teams in the league..He’ll be the focal point on offense And He just doesnt have the offensive skills as Paul….

joecheck88Participanti was wrong on this one. Rondo is real close to top 5 and I definately wouldn’t take Chalmers or Nelson over him. But he still isn’t as good as CP3.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/05/2010 - 12:25pm #369825

OhCanada-ParticipantWow Mario Chalmers over Rondo? Sounds like you got Delonte West’ed by Rajon Rondo.
0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/05/2010 - 1:44pm #369859

SDEParticipantI would talk trash too; if i’m in a great situation and already have a ring and getter better every year not to mention that Nike is backing me and i can turn down USA Basketball and get invited to come back yeah im talking a lot more now!
Ok im a Rondo fan but lets be real. Rondo is top 5 PG in this league. You can voice your comments but people has been fired over this dude like most of the Suns staff for his trade to boston even Mike Dantoni said that letting Rondo go was a mistake.
Now with the CP3 situation; it’s hard to see a guy gaining ground on you….. im going to say leave the past the past and what has CP3 done lately nothing, while PG’s like D Will,Rondo,Rose, and rookies are blowing up. Saying that if Paul don’t come back this year and prove his worth he not even IMO can challenge D Will for that top PG spot.Lets call a spade a spade, Rondo can’t shoot like most guys but It looks bad when somebody who can’t shoot dominate in the NBA and get triple double’s on legit teams ie Cavs,Lakers
top five PG in no order
CP3, Rose,Rondo,Dwill,Billups0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/05/2010 - 1:55pm #369861

JNixonParticipantI take back what I said about Nash in highsight, at least currently.
I think its:
Paul, Williams, Rose, Nash, Rondo (in no true order)

JNixonParticipantWhat was it that you said about Mario Chalmers lol? I can’t remember, but it was something like he’s an All-Star or something
0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/05/2010 - 2:32pm #369872

wd40rocksParticipantRondo is NOT better than D-Will
0 - Posted on: Thu, 08/05/2010 - 6:47pm #369954

sheltwon3ParticipantI agree D Will is better than Rondo. Rondo should be out of the top 5 until he can shoot a reliable jumper. Tony Parker eventually improved his shooting and also his passing and I would say Rondo may be a few notches above Parker.
Remember we are talking Tony Parker without injuries here. Deron Williams would be beasting if he was on the Celtics. I am a big Paul fan but to me Deron Williams and Chris Paul are 1A and 1B. Also if Rondo does not learn to shoot better soon, Wall ,Jennings, Westbrook, Holiday, and Curry could leapfrog him.
0 - Posted on: Fri, 08/06/2010 - 10:10am #370218

sc0rebuckets11Participantyet. compared to rondo, rondo is an elite shooter.
Wall shot 12.5% from 3 & 37.7% from the field in summer league.

joecheck88ParticipantGoing on 5 years ago. Haha. I had just turned 21. Man I think we have all come a long way since this.
What do we think now? Rondo is definitely a top PG but maybe not top 5 but I’m not taking Chalmers and Nelson over him. Nash and Billups are now way too old and WOW I had a Gilbert Arenas sighting here. Lol. Paul is still a superior player and Westbrook is better. Still taking Parker over Rondo and Wall is at least right there with him. League of PGs but over the past 2 years injuries and lack of develop have halted it a bit.
Just thought this was a funny post. Revisit if you like.
