qDizzle32ParticipantLast year, nobody had Victor Oladipo even in their mock drafts prior to the season (asssuming he wouldn’t have came out), never cracked the lottery range until halfway through last year and wasn’t a Top 5 range player until the last month prior to the draft as he ended up being the 2nd overall pick. So far, Oladipo has guaranteed a bright future for his career after making that huge jump in only one year. Two years ago that guy was Dion Waiters and this year’s looks like it could very well be TJ Warren. His impressive 23 ppg has definitely increased his draft stock along with his scoring ability which he has showed improvement with. The way how Oladipo went 2nd was because last year was such a bad draft class compared to previous years and this year is too loaded with the Big 6 (Embiid, Parker, Wiggins, Exum, Randle and Smart) but Warren could still potentially be the last minute breakthrough prospect. It remains unknown how concerned NBA Teams will be about Smart’s stock by the time of the draft (It would then be over 4 months since the incident) but if there were to be one player to be that dark horse and crack the Top 6 booting at least one of those guys out, TJ Warren would definitely be my pick as of right now despite the fact that he is rarely even a lottery pick in most mocks as of right now.

highflyer0ParticipantTJ Warren is a good player but I don’t know what else he could "prove" to scouts that would increase his stock. He’s one of the nation’s leading scorers and he’s still a mid round pick, so unless he starts pouring in 30 a game, I’m not sure what would allow a team to forget about his athletic deficiencies and his lack of a true position. I’m not saying he isn’t worth a top 10 pick, because I think he may be. I’m just arguing that he’s already playing at an incredibly high level and it’s obviously not enough for scouts to consider an elite prospect. I think his individual workouts and athleticism testing as well as other measurements will be key for him. If I were to name someone who I think could crack the top 6, it would probably be Tyler Ennis rather than Warren. Being on a great team and making a run in the tournament goes a long way.

TRC1991ParticipantTJ Warren is a blackhole unfortunately…When the ball goes to him, it’s not coming back out

Sabdiego12345678Participantare you crazy? ivebeen to every nc state home game and watched ever away game warren never forces anything unless he has to and if he doesnt have anything he passes it out and warren is getting alot of attention from scouts however the media doesnt pay him much attention due to the fact that he plays at nc state and i think he has a good chance of being a lotto pick if he keeps his 3pt shooting like it has been as of lat in the past month his shooting over 50% from deep

surveParticipantyes…the only thing that can make him rise to lottery status this year is if he stays hot from deep. if he were to return…he could go higher by improving his defense, handle, and rebounding on the defensive side.

Jester87ParticipantNah, Oladipo was a freak athlete with great wingspan, whose skills weren’t particularly advanced in his first two years in college, but he was a late bloomer and he has improved in each and every season. Warren isn’t a late bloomer, he was a top 30 recruit, and by Nba standard is athleticism and physical tools aren’t outstanding, so I don’t see him rising a lot, considering he probably won’t play in the NCAA tournament and thus he won’t be able to use that stage to boost his stock. The only chance for him is to surprise everyone during the combine showing he’s a better athlete than given credit for, but Oladipo went from likely 4 year second round pick to lock for the top 5/possible first overall pick.

HaleParticipantI don’t think so. Oladipo has unreal athleticism, great length and is a defensive stalwart and it’s the complete opposite for Warren. Not to mention the knock on Oladipo was his jump shot and he ended up shooting 44% from deep last year as opposed to 20% as a sophomore. No doubt Warren has shown improvement and has likely locked up being a mid-late first rounder but he won’t have the meteoric rise of Oladipo (who I actually had #1 on my big board at the end of last season).

surveParticipantI liked Oladipo since he was a freshman because of his athleticism. I always thought he had potential and he steadily improved.
TJ Warren scoring 23ppg is not a surprise at all so even though he looks like he is much improved….he really hasnt made that improvement like Oladipo, it just appears as if he has made a lot of improvements but the truth is…he just has an expanded role. He played with 4 guys last year that scored 1000 points…and for the first half of the season he was the leading scorer at about 16ppg. He couldve been a 20 ppg scorer last year had he not played with 4 other double digit guys and Purvis who was just under double digits.
Where Warren is weak at (ballhandling, shot creating, defense) he really hasnt made much of an improvement. He is what he is and that is a guy who has an instinct for scoring.

JoeWolf1Don’t like the comparison. Oladipo was ranked 136th coming out of high school, Warren was ranked 29th and has always been a high profile player.
I get where you’re coming from, but Warren averaged 12 ppg as a freshman was a highly ranked guy all along, and although he’s made major production jumps, I just don’t feel he’s in that top 5 prospect level that is represented in this draft class.
