At first I thought it was a charge because Chandlers foot was in the restricted area, but someone wrote an interesting comment on the video.

Stackhouse should learn the rules first before he goes on TV
the foot on the line doesnt matter cause Lebron caught the ball in the defensive box which is not marked on the floor but is still there and a part of the game
he might sitll be moving though

So what do you guys think?

I wanted Dallas to win that game and the series, but that was a horrible call.  But what do you expect, it’s Joey Crawford.

Horrible call, it was blatantly obvious that Chandler was in the restricted area.  I was able to see it from my television and Joey Crawford, which was right there, couldn’t see it?  C’mon..  You can’t even get away with that on 2K11.

Yeah, but isn’t there some kind exception to the rule that if you catch the ball at a certain spot the player is allowed to draw the charge inside the restricted area?

Btw: Joey hates the Mavs Maybe he wants to fight the rumor and that’s why the Mavs got some lucky calls 🙂

I am not going to pretend to know all the rules and Joey Crawford knows much more about the rules than I do but that is a blocking foul. Tyson was moving and jumped to the spot to draw a charge but his foot was on the line. I think if Tyson is another foot out then it was the right call but since he foot was on the restricted line then it should have been an AND1

Ah, some people on youtube YES youtube explain it nicely

    Chandler nice play

The restricted area does not apply on plays that originate in the lower defensive box. The lower defensive box is bound by the lower part of the free throw circle and by the post marks 3 feet on each side of the lane line. Chandler gets to his legal position with his torso in the straight line path of LeBron and gets there before he starts his upward motion.

    The correct call was made

    A comment from the video.

PS: Sorry, I don’t know how to post youtube videos properly.

It wasn’t a problem that Chandler was in the restricted area but I think he got there there a sec late and him not being straight showed that.  Good to see Miami didn’t harp on that call though.

There are always going to be calls that when reviewed may seem to be incorrect, but given the pace of what happened and the situation, I believe that the call was acceptable. Violations were missed on both sides of the court throughout the entire game, but not in excess to the norm. They even repeated a play in which Wade moved his pivot foot twice in one play and was not penalized for this. You have to expect controversial calls and even incorrect ones when the level of scrutiny is so immeasurable.
