1 of my preseason prediction was that John Wall would make the All-Star team and have his breakout. Unfortunately he suffered a mysterious knee injury that sidelined him for about 33 games. Since Wall came back the Wizards went from top lottery picking team to a team that could have made the playoffs in the weak eastern conference. Guys like Bradley Beal and Martell Webster have been shooting better percentages since his return and the Wizards have an above .500 record as well since he came back. Wall himself ,after having to play through a minutes limit and a few other up and down,had his best stretch of his career last month avg 22 ppg, 8 apg, 4.8 rpg, 1.8 spg and even started hitting 3’s 46%(scary). He’s trying to close out the season strong avg 26-6-5 in april and it’s really looking like he turn the corner and this isn’t just a flash in the pan…Also what to you guys think his chances are next year?

I had him pegged as an allstar and the wizards making the playoffs before he got injured. He also averages near a block a game, those numbers are starting to look Dwayne Wadeish….

Yeah oddly enough he reminds me of a faster ,way better passing Dwayne Wade with less muscle.Which is scary

If he continues to improve his shooting from 16ft to the 3point line he will be unstoppable, it has gone up every year. This year he is shooting 38% up from 33% last year, if he can get that around 43 to 45% he will be a top 5 point guard with his athleticism and passing ability. People having to guard his shot will only open up more driving lanes and make him unstoppable because that is the only thing he is missing.

Depends on there record. If they record sucked worst then the 76ers then no. Jrue had a good first half of the season and Kyrie is a beast. He would of had to replace one of them.

I don’t think it would have been a stretch for Wall to replace Holiday as an All-Star; Jrue had a hot streak, but I still don’t consider him an All-Star calibre player yet.

It’s just hilarious to me how many people were ragging on Wall and saying he wasn’t going to do anything, that he “wasn’t a franchise player” before he had even played a game this season.

This is just like CP3 getting an injury and everyone coming out and saying Deron Williams was better; well clearly that was stupid, just like this is.

Still, it’s hard to see Wall being an All-Star next year unless he REALLY explodes or Rondo takes longer than anticipated to return. Rose is a lock to be an All-Star when he returns, Kyrie is everyone’s favourite after the show he put on, and Rondo is simply Rondo – ’nuff said.

If Rondo stays out and Wall stays healthy, then yep, Wall is an All-Star, like he should’ve been this season – I blame Reebok and their stupid Zig Tech entirely.

No one in the NBA has his combination of speed with the ball and athleticism at the point guard position. This includes Rondo, Rose and Westbrook. Even with that being said however, the point guard position is IMO the most difficult position to make the all-star team at in the east. He still has to contend with a healthy Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, Deron Williams AND Kyrie Irving JUST for a starting spot. He simply won’t win the fan voting IMO. The coaches voting is fair game for all players of every position, so in addition to competing with other point guards such as the other three aforementioned guards that don’t get the starting spot, Jrue Holiday, and other point guards, he has to compete with other borderline all-stars at every position. By “borderline,” I mean guys who most definitely will not be starting in the game and are not perennial all-stars. This includes Chris Bosh, Tyson Chandler, Luol Deng, Joakim Noah, Rudy Gay, Kevin Garnett (due to the voting), Paul Pierce, Paul George, Danny Granger, Roy Hibbert, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace, Greg Monroe, Nene, Josh Smith, Al Horford and Amare Stoudemire. I’m sure some players are missing as well.

Being an all-star is difficult regardless of position, but I think that Wall’s path is even more difficult than most because of all the solid point guards that are currently rated ahead of him not only in the conference, but in the game itself.
