Pretty cool story going from first number one to lose to 16 last year to champs this year. Actually turned out to be a great game as well even if it didn’t draw the same type of interest past championships have. Much more excitement than probably most expected.

Deandre Hunter really flexed his top 10 muscles. Efficient on offense without needing the ball, and locked down Culver in so many clutch situations. Culver got somewhat exposed. No doubt he has a great all around game and attacks the basket well, but if he isn’t able to a consistent jumper it is going to really limit him at the next level. I feel he’s somwhere between Evan Turner and Alec Burks. No doubt he can be a useful NBA player but I wouldn’t touch him anywhere earlier than late lottery. I think he now falls behind high upside guys like Nassir Little and Cam Reddish.

Ty Jerome, should people start talking about him as a potential lottery pick? Show glimpses of Steve Nash, with his bright mind and floor general ability and smooth jumper, although could be somewhat ladazecal with his play at times have to say…

I see more Steve Blake/Tomas Satoransky in his game than Nash, but I agree he’s worth a look at 14 by the Celtics. If they don’t think they can re-sign Irving and/or Rozier, I think Jerome would fit perfectly in their rotation.

Holy shit, was that supposed to be lackadaisical?

Yes, Jerome is late lottery pick to mid first for mine. Should not get past Orlando. Good size, range, passing, stepped up in big games, leadership, a winner.

While I’m here, Kyle Guy should be on boards. He’s small and needs defensive work, but he deserves a look in the early second round at least, especially in this draft and after his play. He’s probably better than Jimmer right now.

Kyle Guy a second rounder that can curve out a role in the nba similar to Bryn Forbes of the Spurs, he also has a little Juan Carlos "La Bamba" Navaro in him…

It’s hard to be a bad defender on consistently one of the best defensive teams in the country. The main thing he needs to work on is adding strength. The ability and the desire to play good defense is there.

As a Carolina fan (obviously) who has followed ACC basketball for over 2 decades now, it is absolutely stunning the job Tony Bennett has done.  Obviously Virginia got some calls to go their way and were extremely lucky in the final four, but that doesn’t change the fact that Bennett is probably the best coach in college basketball right now.  My brother went to UVA law from 04-07 and I got see a Carolina-UVA game at the old arena in 05, the year UNC won the title.  They absolutely pulvarized UVA and they were really bad then.  Fast forward to now and with their first national championship. UVA put the rest of the country on notice they are a basketball school and aren’t going anywehre anytime soon.

     UVA is the new Duke.

Kyle Guy is the new "guy everybody hates" who plays for Duke.

    GREAT GAME.

DeAndre Hunter moved up my board and I already had him at 7.  Probably a top 4 guy now — I have him at 2, but I have had a ton of guys at 2.

Ty Jerome played well.  Diakite is a legit force.  Kyle Guy had some run these past few days.  Guy is like a Danny Ainge/Steve Kerr mashup.

Just a really good team — like a perfect college team, even though they only have one lottery pick and maybe only one first rounder (although Diakite is probably gonna go back and give everybody nightmares).

Virginia is probably one of the legit "power programs" now with Duke, Kentucky, UNC, Gonzaga, Villanova, Michigan State, and Kansas and I can see Texas Tech pushing out Kansas (supposedly Kansas is in deep trouble).

Tony Bennett is creating a great legacy in Virginia, he has ben a very highly rated coach for over a decade but really needed a title to cement his position especially after last year’s embarrassing exit. Now he has a title it makes them an even more desirable location for top HS prospects especially as some of the great college coaches must be nearing retirement now.

Hunter and Jerome have done their draft status no harm and have proved that they are winners. I’m not sure what their returning class will be like any thoughts?
